That toolholder had been damaged and repaired. a couple months ago they hit a potato plow out in a field they did not know was there, and it deformed the tool holder so they welded it up to strengthen it and went back to work.

Funny thing is it hit nothing but dirt. it was just its time to go. It was all stop, the cutter was off vbalance and vibrating, and we spent a couple hours looking for it (no luck yet).

Last night as they were finishing up the hit an unkonwn to myself chunk of steel square tube. no damage though (PHEW!).

The prior owner clearly had a penchant for leaving junk steel out in the woods mad:)

If you've met them, either you are in the same line of work, or you used to live near here, or they range farther afield to work than I knew!

Our place has been farmed since 1820. We have cleaned up lots of junk left behind but there is no telling what's still out there. I assume that a lot of farms are that way.

Around here they take out old orchards (olive, almond, English walnut) with equipment similar in size to that beast that's roaming your property. One machine rips out the tree by the roots. The second machine feeds the tree into a gigantic wood chipper that loads the mulch into a semi-trailer rig.

I found a single mag wheel, a fattened set of metal shelves. 10 storm windows (glass included) street signs, etc...

This guy hoarded junk and much of it he stashed out in the woods...

I've also found VERY old broken plow blade parts etc from farming in the old days.

I watched him push over a leaning (partially fallen) 50' pine & roll over the rootball, up to the end, back up, pull forward. "What Pine?"...

It happens a lot more than most guys would like especially the older two bolt holder. Get into some rock or worse steel and away she goes.

I agree and scary as ****. I have had an outside tool holder begin to tear out but nowhere near completely removed. I knew the problem existed because of the vibration that began.

That is one serious piece of equipment and it is truely impressive at what they can cut and how fast they can cut it!
