Monster Mulcher visits MossflowerWoods

I managed to get home during daylight today nd took some more pics of what they ground up last evening.

The first four put my "Dee Dee Bee" in a better light, but still show how HUGE Frankenstein is.

The next 6 show a variety of angles to attempt to show a large portion of what they did in TWO HOURS. The last 2 are tring to show what it looks like right at the transition, like before and after shots.

Good pics. I'm interested in your opinions about how all this turns out after it's been over for a while. What are you planning to do with the "new ground"?

In that third pic your tractor looks like a young bird with it's mouth open waiting to be fed by it's mother.

I am clearing out 5 acres of clearcut to convert it to Pasture for a few horses and maybe a cow.

Wow, that's impressive for 2 hours. What a machine! Imagine what a bunch of them could do!

If you don't mind me asking, do they charge by the hour and about how much? They sure can cover some ground in a couple of hours.

Typically the minimum is a day. There is a delivery fee (based on distance?) and then a "Day" gets you 8 hours of machine time. I know they offered my next ranch over neighbor (same easment) a half day before or after my day.

I will PM you price info that i have.

Sweet, doesn't take long with a machine like that. don't forget a couple goats, they will help keep the brush back. :laughing:

Mark, Last year I had about 10 Ac. mulched..they had to mulch various areas within the 10 Ac. pasture not the whole 10 Ac. I first got a quote from a man that had a machine much like the one MossflowerWoods used...He wanted $300.00 per hour + a travel and set up charge...I ended up going with a fellow that had a smaller mulcher and he charged me $1,200.00 for about 12 hrs. of mulching...he did a great job too...The more expensive $300.00 and hour fellow tried to convince me it was worth it but he too wanted a minimum of 8 hrs...hence..$2,400.00 + travel and set up... I would say I did pretty good...

How did you like the results now a year later? Have the chips completely decomposed and grass grown over it?

No , I was happy with the results overall but I was disappointed too...in my case the mulcher left some long slices of trees behind...maybe only 1 inch thick but long slabs that were pressed down into the grass, and many of the chips are still there and I hit them with my bushog...I guess in time they will compost but until then it is like hearing marbles clanking at times when I am bush hogging.
