Replacement engine is Perkins 5633/2200 AP81012 U596613K
UK built in 2003. 4 litre producing 69 HP. Non-turbo.
I haven't worked out what the 5633/2200 numbers refer to.

That's kiwi dollars which is about $US4000 and I've estimated a thousand dollars or so for steam cleaning etc. We have quite tough regulations about importing used farm machinery.

Turns out it was a lemon.
Drove it to my mechanic for a 1000 hr service

He called to tell me rear housing where 3pt attaches was flogged out, front hubs worn out and the icing on the cake there was a large crack in the engine block gummed up with filler.

Seller has agreed to full refund, it's going back tomorrow.

I'm sorry. Good idea is to find out the issues just in time. Yes, get all possible from the seller. Buying a second hand machine is always a risk. I have experienced that as well. Good luck.

Got my money back on the Landini in full. Spent a little more and bought a clean, original looking Massey Ferguson 362 with cab & premium locally made loader, all for about $US13,600.

I'm also glad to hear you have found the way to solve an issue. Congratulations!

Meanwhile I have a stupid tech incident with my M9000. This spring I've noticed the turbocharger is blowing engine oil via intake hoses through an intercooler. Ok, I said, old tractor (2003), old engine ... well, I'll replace a turbo (engine oil, filter too) and that'll be it. And I did it.
I don't know, what could get into my head to check new turbocharger's axle whether it is clicking or not after just 30 hours of hard work. And, to my horror, it was clicking in the same way like the faulty one (impeller touches the casing)! After 30 hours only ...!!!
The decision was made that faulty is an engine, but not a turbocharger. So I agreed to overhaul an engine. And to my surprise (yesterday) - not much worn-out parts were found inside, which could affect the turbocharger's failure.
So right now I'm on the crossroad... Knowing that the turbo's failure is always lead by a certain reason, I can't find the reason. That's the worst thing I've ever had with a tractor. Sinister feeling ... :mur:

But you know, there's nothing to blame ... Used machine, anything may happen at anytime.
