I find the r4's are ok in deep snow but add any ice and all bets are off. I have a super steep driveway. I've slid down several times and was unable to come back up with 4 engaged and diff locked. I also have loaded rears, smaller r4's and keep the 448 on the rear.

I find the JD plow(72") too small for any real large area's and it barely covers the tires when angled. The horst is alot beefier without question. But the 84"
2000 would be a better fit, you could have even gone to a 96" since the weight is down. It sure is a nice plow though. I hope it serves you well.

Matt:thumbsup:

Thanks Matt I just use tractor plowing for some smaller properties with little parking lots and parked cars where it gets to tight with my F350 crew cab. I can't go back and change my past decision now I was looking at my 62 inch 1000 series blade that I have used on the kubota 7510 for about 5 years and I know how much I could do with that set up. (check my pictures here there is a picture of that set up) So I figured 72 inch was good enough actually looking at it on the loader today it looks pretty big but I know what your saying about the 2000 series and looking at the weight factors.

Had to move the blade out of the driveway today, I did not want any trick or treaters to get hurt or stumble into it in the dark. It looks pretty mean on the loader I like it :D

DP - looks great and should do a great job for you. Do you use a rubber blade or steel? I would guess that you have to be very careful with steel.

Let us know how it performs this winter. Plow forward....

That is one good looking machine. Very heavy built from the looks of things. I like the big curl on the blade. It should really roll the snow over nice.

Do you have an all gravel drive? Gonna run with the skid shoes or ?

Thanks :) not for my driveway it is the last thing that gets done after all the plowing contracts. I pull in half asleep and backdrag a spot with the truck and park. The tractor will be stationed in my downtown area at another property so I can jump out of the truck and into the tractor for some smaller downtown properties. The tractor is much better to use then the truck for these locations.

DP,
Nice looking blade, good luck with it. I have a 3320 with R4's. They work pretty good on my long gravel driveway but the front end drifts around a lot and that's with the Deere 59" blower so I would think that you might want to look into chains for your turfs.
What happens is that once the snow gets a little wet the tires lose traction right away. Last year I slipped off my friends driveway and it was a pain to get it back up because the snow turned to ice under the tires.
This year I got chains and I'll see how it goes. I just put them on and the traction difference is huge. The trouble is going around on the road with them to get from one house to another takes a long time because I don't want to push the chains on the road.

Rob,

Turf tires are so close to snow tires in many ways, that R4's cannot be compared to them. They have more give in the sidewalls, which is a must on snow, and a tread pattern similar to that of a snow. R4 are too stiff, which is why you may require chains.

When I say snow tires, am not referring to the glorified all season tires some companies sell.

this one will run off the rear remotes on the JD3720 and will use a little button keypad style that is built rite into the handle of the loader control for left and right (very cool)

DP, great looking blade and tractor! If you don't mind can you explain the "little button keypad" a little better? I'm having trouble trying to figure out what you mean by this. Of course photos are a plus. I know on the Kubota that I have my front loader blade is controlled by the rear remotes but I use the lever on the right side of my seat to angle left and right. Thank you! Stanley

I believe he's talking about the 3rd function located on the joystick. It's the grey pad in this photo.
