I'm looking seriously at a couple Kubota L5450's with LA1150A loaders. One has 465 hours and the other has 1,714 hours. About $18,500.00 for the first and the asking price for the second is $16,500.00 before negotiations. Any thoughts or recommendations. I'm going to look at the one with 1,714 hours today. Thanks in advance for any guidance. Mike

Hey Mike - welcome to TBN!

The L5450 is one of Kubota's best products ever. It is extremely well-built with a very low incidence of problems or weak points. I've had two of them, one with a cab and one without. This model is heavy and strong - the qualities that make a good tractor. The LA1150 is powerful and the L5450's big hydraulic pump makes it quick too.

Search TBN for keywords L5450, L4850, L4350, L4150, L3750 - you'll find lots of stuff to read.

Of those you mentioned, the one with only 465 hours is likely the best value - unless the others have new rubber and extra hydraulics or other options or attachments included. A comparable new Kubota model for weight and power is the M6040 with hydraulic shuttle - at around $36k. There are not many L5450's with low hours that come up for sale. If it were me I'd pounce. Good luck and let us know how things turn out.

I have the baby of that series, the 4350 and she is a tank. The middle one was the 4850. That probably has the 5 cylinder engine as well. Great tractor.

rbargeron and magicheater,

I pounced on the L5450 with the 465 hours after looking at the one with 1,714 hours. It will be delivered late tomorrow or early Tuesday. To say the least, I am anxious to get it. Thank you for the information. I'll let you know more when I get it. Mike

There's an old saying "buy the best - you'll always be happy with it".

The L5450 is a nice product. A few years ago I wrote a review of my L5450DT-W but it's not listed there anymore. I wrote a new one but that hasn't showed up yet either. In fact no new reviews have been added since May 19. Apparently the reviews section needs some attention. I asked about it but there has been no response yet.

The L5450 was delivered Monday evening. As nearly as I can tell, it appears to be in great shape. It had 460.8 hours on it when delivered. The previous owner entered a date of 12/22/97 as the purchase date in the Operator's Manual. I skimmered the Owner's Manual the first night and read it cover to cover yesterday. The previous owner was an older gentleman who passed away and his wife held on to the tractor until just recently when she sold it to a fellow who buys and sells used Kabotas and implements. Thank you all who posted replies to my original post. It's now time for me to move on to the Kubota Owning/Operating Forum. I'll post some photos when I figure out how to do it. Thanks again!!! Mike

Great Buy!, You have the "Everclutch" and that tractor will last the rest of your life, built like a tank and with the 5 cylinder engine probably very smooth.
Happy for you!
