sometimes when I have afeed problem it is from the outside tube guide being worn sharp by wire you can take a torch tip cleaner and file the guide over or replace it.

Try explaining to a purchasing agent why you want grade D breathing air on a structural job.:D

A couple pages back, the poster said there is a 3/4" gap after the feed roll. I would say the outlet guide is missing. there should not be Any Gap..

This is how I like my guide tubes placed.

Do you always use name brand wire, and is there a really big difference?

You know, I have sold hundreds of thousands of pounds of mig wire back in the day. Mostly 70S6 and 71T1 or TGS. Some Metal Core and Silicon and Aluminum Bronze. 6-8 years ago I would say yes there is a Huge difference in wire from importers buying from Low cost countries. Now days, Import wires are catching up. Kisswell from Korea and Some Taiwan, Turkish, Chinese and Lincoln Shure Arc from Mexico are all very good running production type wires. I would stay away from Harbor Freight because they work off of cost only. The others would be Robots, Pulse and Twin Pulse as they require premium wire like L56 loincoln or ESAB 86. For everyone else who does short arc up to 1/2" you couldn't tell the difference between Kisswell, Harris, National Standard, Washington Alloy or a dozen others. They just work ok now. Want the best, Buy L56.. Want the worst, Buy Harbor Freight or anything "Not" from a Welding Supply store.
Just what I am seeing out there.

One thing you can do is make sure you don't have any sharp bends while welding making it that much harder for the wire to push through the liner.

You know, I never really thought about it! But looking at that cabinet of wire I guess I do. Few days ago I went to the welding supply, asked for a roll of Lincoln .045 L-56 wire, (love that stuff). They no longer carry Lincoln! Sold me a roll of some wire, but I can't remember the name. Just went out to look, no name on the box, so it must be a no name brand:laughing:. Haven't tried it yet, but the salesman, (known him for 25-years) says everyone likes it better than the L-56.:confused3:

Hi J_J, I ran some of that no name wire this morning. It seemed to run a lot like Lincoln's L-56, but little more splatter than I would like. Now that could very well be I don't have my settings on the new Invertec. A lot of bells and whistles on this machine, may take some time to figure out!:confused2:

This was .045 wire vertical up weld.

Yomax, I can't tell the difference between the stuff I buy at my local welding supply and the HF wire......might be the same thing w/different labels. If I am at HF and their wire is on sale I always grab a roll.
