All us yanmar guys know the 1500, 2000 are late seventies. Smoody copy and pasted that from some site. Its either Hoye or some other i have come across (pretty sure its on Hoyes site, browes their site if u havent). Its a good reference to find and call a sellers Bull or find one who is as ignorant or more than yourself on his tractor. DO NOT pay that much money for a 1500 even if its 4wd and has a loader i think that is retail of a redone (american refurb job) fredricks tractor or higher.

I have looked at Fredrick's and his machines look great and he has a good reputation. Unfortunately he is 15 hours from me. As are most of the dealers. :-(

Freight cant be more than 1K if your set on fredericks. But honestly if you pay freight or there are no used ones to be had you might be just as well off to buy an old JD or ford.

You will really like having a Yanmar if you get one and I am going to be in trouble here with the 2cyl guys but I would recommend getting a 3cyl they dont have quite the low end torque but they sure run smooth and a day listening to a 2cyl I would have to kill myself. :laughing:

No argument here. The argument for 2 cyl is: cheap, simple, indestructible, more torque, cheap. If you don't mind spending more, a 3cyl is nicer.

For lots of us who operate few hours in a year, a cheap indestructible entry-level tractor is all we'll ever need.

Me, I have both. (photo above). But I didn't buy the 3-cylinder because I was tired of the first one, I bought the second smaller Yanmar to fit under my orchard trees. I still need the big twin for its big loader and to carry the backhoe. I appreciate the 3 cylinder tractor's smoothness but paying $thousands more for that aspect doesn't make sense for many owners.

There's nothing wroing with a YM1500, YM2000, or YM2210.

I have spent countless time online researching compact tractors. Much of my time has been spent on this site reading old posts. I understand from my reading there is some heated discussion on the "Grey market" tractors. A week ago I didnt even know what a grey market tractor was. So please be tender with me
I am not 100% sold on Yanmar but they apear to be built like a tank and have good value for the dollar.
I want something small. 20hp give or take. 4wd would be cool. I want a loader and 3ph system. I want to run a fred hain subsoiler. I would prefer turf rubber but not sure if I would have enough traction to pull the subsoiler.
Also, Any advise on where to buy in Ontario Canada or upstate NY or PA.
FYI, I am very mechanically inclined but know nothing about diesel.

If you are looking at a new one or late model in the Cub Cadet brand of Yanmar (they have just severed that relationship i read on a thread here) take a good look at the frame assembly comapred to other brands. That is what convinced me to buy a Kubota BX25.

I THINK it's a YM169D. I don't think it's a 186 or 140/147 because I don't see a Powershift lever, and it looks less beefy than a 186. The 169D is a lot like my 1401D. Mine is a great little machine.

It appears to have dual hydraulic controls for the blade: up/down and pivot left/right. I suppose it's a snow plow, but I don't know anything about that; it looks to be well-mounted, though, with bracing back to the rear axle. I don't know if blades like that are sturdy enough to push dirt; maybe it designed for both? It looks like it has feet to set the depth for the blade.

You'll want something heavy on the back: A box blade or weight box would be nice.
