Years ago most/many hunting accidents were from going through fences. Now a days, getting in/out of tree stands is leading to quite a few accidents.
My grandfather in law(GIL) was a farmer and he went bird hunting with his vet one year. The Vet shot GIL in the leg when they were going through/over a fence. This was, and still is, a common hunting accident.
One of GIL son in laws was killed in a "hunting accident." The family believes he was killed when he returned to his truck and found people about to break into his vehicle.
In my area, there was a lady killed in her back yard while she was gardening. She was wearing white gloves and some idiot shot her. Many years ago, maybe back in the 80's, I was reading a list of hunting accidents in NC. One "hunter" saw a white object moving rapidly so he shot at it. Turned out it was the WHITE helmet being worn by the driver of a motorcycle.

The driver was killed. Seems like there was a rider as well that was killed.
We had two men shot a few years ago in my county. One died and the one was lucky to live. In both cases they were shot while moving to their stand before dawn and were shot by a "hunter" who simply fired at the noise of the men walking. There was no way the "hunter" could see the men since it was dark. They also shot well before dawn and thus the legal time to hunt.
The subject accident and previous events is horrible. The Front Page thread has more information about the situation. Tthe man who killed himself, Man A, shot Man B. A few years ago, Man B's son ran over Man A's daughter in a snow mobile accident. The daughter was killed.
