Last time I went hunting, I was on state land, in northern Michigan. I got into the woods well before dawn, to a spot I had selected the day before. Just some branches around a stump to sit on. As the light started to filter into the very dark patch of woods, I thought I saw some movement, about 50 yards away. Now in these woods, 50 yards is pretty far. I kept looking in that direction, thought I saw some movement, but not couldn't see enough to take a shot. As the light got brighter, I saw a guy sitting in a blind!! After a awhile, I started to walk out. I met the guy from the blind. We went and had breakfast together. Turned out he had seen some movement also, from me. He had entered the woods about 100 yards further down the access road - we couldn't see each others trucks due to the brush. He had entered from the other end of the road - we couldn't see each other's trucks. Both of us had not wanted to shoot unless we had a clear shot. But if either of us had gotten a little over eager or too cafinated, it would could have been a tradegy. This is the reality of hunting on public or possibly private land. You never know who is in the woods, and you are entirely dependent on not the kindness of strangers, but on their judgement. I haven't been hunting since.
