I wasn't aware so many folks has actually eaten Horse, and eat it as a casual meal, 
when I was younger I heard older folks say things like,
" well the plow horse is ready for the glue factory" things along that line but never hear anyone say when their horse is of no more use we'll just eat him
However I have seen on TV once where they eat a horse to survive and to stay alive, figured It must be the last option for survival, I suppose I could eat it if need be although I don't think I'd eat it like would having a weekend cookout with beef steaks,

Don't Forget, The Germans ate Thousands of horses during WW2? Some of them had pulled their military equipment into Russia and other conquered countrys? Many starved after the horse meat ran out...

You bet ya...I just mentioned it for the younger fellows, I guess they got to like anything they could find to eat then. Russia had a Scorched earth policy to deny the enemy{Germans or Huns} anything usable or eatable. It worked and they really whipped their behinds.....all the way back to Berlin?

Yes indeed, quite a few times while visiting in europe. I like it, much better than deer. If I could find a supply around here I would still be eating it
