Grand L loader issues?? or operation

Is adjusting the hydralic pressure something I can do?

I agree I am suprised as I have read nothing but great things on this loader.

So if I stick the bucket in the ground and try to curl/dig it should lift the rear end without having any trouble?

Having ballast or loaded tires doesnt effect curl or breakout if the load isnt being lifted enough to effect me without it now

I know about having ballast and I have a box blade with weight added when I have alot of loader work to do. I am hoping that for my needs I can get away with not loading the tires. the jury is still out

I would bet your pressure is low. I had a L3130 with the 723 loader and it was a real disappointment. I checked the pressure and it was close to 1000psi low. Same deal with my L5740. Tried my new loader and was disappointed again. Checked the pressure and it was 1000# low. Boosted it to 2500# and got a new loader. Some day I will bump it another 200# but it is real good now.
Changing the pressure is not a tough job but testing the pressure is a must first.

I took my tractor to dealer who adjusted pressure for $35.

"Boosted it to 2500# and got a new loader"

Really you got a replacement loader...what was wrong with the original that boosting pressure didnt fix.

how do you adjust the pressure? I will make a gauge if I think I can adjust the pressure

Figuratively speaking. Old loader (low pressure) new load (boosted pressure):D

pressure adjustment is done by changing tension on relief valve.
given a shop manual, you find location of valve, observe shims looking like washers around valve.

on my tractor, there is a "nut' on the bottom of the HST. REmoving this leaves a bunch of parts, spring, shims, shaft in your hand along with some fluid loss. Adding shims/washers changes the hydraulic pressure relief. more shims equal more pressure.

it is NOT intended to be a field adjustable item.
If you do adjust yourself you MUST know max specification and stay UNDER that max. Shims are very thin----DOESN'T TAKE MUCH TO MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE

Be aware that more pressure stresses hoses and all hyd components more.
Be aware that purchasing a hydraulic gauge will be about same price as having dealer do the adjustment .

Proceed at your own risk.
ANd you MUST, REPEAT, MUST have a lot of weight on rear---filled tires and 1000 lbs on TPH I recommend.

Thanks Texas
Thats what I was looking for. Warranty so i will call the dealer tomorrow

in regards to ballast I am still in the learning mode with this new tractor, I am hoping not to fill the tires if possible for my needs 4wd might do it for me. For loader work I have a 6ft box blade loaded with old ford wheel weights.
recently transfered 4 ton 411 limestone from trailer to barn lot. With box blade on and 4wd no problems. didnt not require a curl and dig type operation which is why my current issue didnt come up.

Just to be clear, you couldn't curl or lift individually either? The old valve on my L5030, a husco can do both at once, on my other tractor there is a spot in the middle that puts the pump into relief if I try to lift and curl simultaneously.

My L5030 will lift the rear end with loaded tires and with 800 lbs on the 3 point. I put 2200 lbs on the hitch when I need to lift really heavy items.

I have had no issues with lifting a full bucket of gravel.

its the curl function that does not seem to be working correctly. If I point the bucket down and try to dig or push the tractor backwards its doesnt do anything RPM 1500-2500 no difference.

I used to get stuck with my old tractor and could use the curl to get unstuck it would push the whole tractor backwards. With the 5740 it just sits there.
I have called the dealer and they said to bring it in they will check the pressure. Now to wait for the rain to let up.

if it is a HST then it will not roll back. if you had enough power it would slide back but the wheels will not turn.

He could try by putting HST in neutral. Philip.
