I just can't warm up to 'toy' guns though I know the LC's are popular b ecause of price and size.

Those toy poppers are for dumb blondes....

Real men carry real guns, not plastic wannabee's.:)

So what do you carry when in T-shirt and jeans ?

I normally carry my Kimber full size Crimson Carry in the winter under a jacket and in th summer, a Bond 45-410 derringer in my breast pocket of my jacket.

The 45 Long Colt -410 shotshell mught ony be 2 shots but it's 2 FATAL shots if the need arises and the Kimber in 45 auto with 9 rounds is a sure crowd pleaser...

The "plastic wannabees" are light and conceal easily. I still wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of one. When I'm boppin' around the farm and in the woods, I carry my Taurus model 66, 6.5" bbl, .357 mag.. Good enough for anything I'm likely to encounter, but not very practical for carrying around town. I like to match the appropriate tool for the job.

A fella here in Texas was taking his jacket off in a restaurant and his "man gun derringer" fell out hit the floor went off and hit a nearby lady in the back paralyzing her.
So much for your piece of crap "man gun". You need to seriously look at some of the new handguns out there when you talk about concealed carry. A two shot derringer ain't even on the list.

What is the best gun for concealed carry? The one you have when you need it! If it big and heavy guns are more likley to be in your gun safe when you are getting mugged.

I think the OP is on the right track here. The 38+p is a potent dose of lead. Not to mention, they are enjoyable to shoot.

LCR is a great choice. It's what I would carry, if I carried a revolver.

I carry the LCP. Ruger LCP Centerfire Pistol Models

It's flatter, and holds more ammo. Plus, I can shoot it more accurately than I can a snubbie wheelgun. Because of it's compact size, I can carry one in both of my front pockets. Like they say, "the fastest reload is a second gun." :D Another plus to double carry is that if one hand is injured, or is prevented from drawing, the other hand could save your life. Also, you control access to your gun when it's in a front pocket.

I would encourage you to find someone that has one, as well as some alternative guns (like the LCP), and shoot them before you buy.

I've carried for years. Never needed it, but it's nice to know it's there if I do.

BTW, a couple of years ago, I think it was Patrick Sweeny in G&A magazine who wrote an article about these little "mouse guns." He said something like this:
"Is a .45 better than a .380? You bet. Is the .380 in your pocket better than the .45 at home on your nightstand? You bet your life."
And, to quote Col. Jeff Cooper, "The first rule of a gunfight is to bring a gun." ;)

Thats what I pack all year long, easy to toss on the night stand and pick it up as I put my watch on. Fits nice in the back pocket of the levis, or in the tuck of my back with a tee shirt on. I've run about 400 rounds through it and it still feels like the day I got it. I used to pack a large frame, but as many said here, unless your headed straight to a gun fight, its gonna be at the house on a hot summer night. In the winter I pack the Judge, hard to beat the 45LC and 3" .410 #00 buck when ya wanna a doughnut at 4 in the morning anywhere in town!
