Problems with Neighbors dog .. What would you do?

my only concern with you giving away the dog on CL is that once you have someone take him, and if he would bite/attack new owner or someone else then maybe they can come back on you.. you may just be putting yourself into a situation you don't need or want. sorta like you are now, but i would get sheriff to get dog. and deal with his owner.. again is there an ordinance in your area? plus like someone said real owner may turn you in for giving away his dog..

I'd be careful about being the one to find another person's pit bull a new home. Even if you give the dog away, if it hurts someone you could be held liable.

It has been posted, but I would second sending it to a Rescue. Even if it is not a Pit Bull rescue, some will know where it could go. There are two German Shepherd Dog rescues, that frequently have an odd-ball dog in the group.

A quick "Google" would get you tons of info.

In your neck of the woods it sounds like you have two issues, the dog and the neighbors who sound like the type to drop a match on you in August if you pi$$ them off. Hate to say it, but the safety of your family takes precedent over a dog.


Talk to your propane driver and ask him if he knows someone that would like a dog. They know a lot of country folks. That's what I did the last time someone dumped two puppies on us. (Coyote ate one, but the other one got a new home.)

I'm not concerned about that ... I'm real well known and am respected. Most folks around here wouldn't even drive up to talk to them ... I pull right in Some would consider it dangerous ... I do hire some of the boys from time to time.

When I spoke to the Sheriff's office I was advised there is no animal control out this far and you just won't belive it ... I was advised to shoot the dog.

I'm going to see in the morning what the county pound can do ... Haven't see the rascal any more yet today.

About 10 years ago the new neighbors with 2 bull dog type animals rough looking as if 1/2 starved the other needing a vet. And soon our herd of yearling calves started to be scared and stayed in pen instead of grazing and then I found the fence broken down where they had run into the barbed wire. Saw where a calf had been downed and partly eaten by 2 large now full gutted dogs. Called the owner of calves he came took pictures then saw the dogs and with 22 rifle shot at them. We both were arrested and charged with animal cruelity of 2 dogs. (There was no pity of the dead calf.) At the trail we were described as out of control "Red Necks" and needed anger managment for our actions The owner of the calves paid $750 in fines and $250 court costs. I was judged not guilty but had to pay $250 court costs. The said dogs responded by having another set of pups.
In this sue first then decide what to do thinking of people. I will not shot near or at a dog.what ever reason it is on my property.
I know it is my property but there is no legal way to keep some one else from using it any way they decide .
The whiners and mochers and group of rights people have neutered the sheriff of his responcibilities.
Also not to sure if the DNA isn't to close to decide who is who.

Dogs may be killed, when.

273.030. If any person shall discover any dog or dogs in the act of killing, wounding or chasing sheep in any portion of this state, or shall discover any dog or dogs under such circumstances as to satisfactorily show that such dog or dogs has or have been recently engaged in killing or chasing sheep or other domestic animal or animals, such person is authorized to immediately pursue and kill such dog or dogs; provided, however, that such dog or dogs shall not be killed in any enclosure belonging to or being in lawful possession of the owner of such dog or dogs.

I would go with the rescue place as they will Check the dog over and make sure it's healthy and hopefully go to a good home
