I may be onto a simple inexpensive solution here for us. I removed the diff lock pedal return spring from my L3940 last night, see 1st photo. I then wrote down the specs to the best of my ability, including spring force rate using my fish scale, see 2nd photo. I then ordered a spring of similar size but with half the spring force rate last night from McMaster Carr, see 3rd photo. When the spring from MMC comes in, I will have a baseline to check my orginal spring rate measurment, and make corrections as needed. If the rate of new spring is half the rate of old spring, I will install and report. If changes are needed, I will buy a few more springs and report. Philip.
