Wow,
I'm enjoying the political/financial part of the thread, but have nothing to add.

To Topkicker:

I'm holding out, probably to 2013 to buy a new truck. Looking for a work truck 3/4 ton extended cab GMC. I'm really hoping the current styling is held until then, as I feel that the current offerings are the best styling that GM has ever produced. I do have a question for you though: I remember you mentioning that you work in the Ft Wayne plant and that the only trucks that are assembled there are the regular cab trucks. Where are the extended cab trucks made?

BTW - my 04 GMC currently has 177K miles, has been trouble free (other than typical maintenance and abuse), very reliable and was assembeld in Ft Wayne!

Ft. Wayne,IN builds the reg cabs AND extended cabs (1/2ton, 3/4ton and 1ton). Flint,MI builds crew cabs along w reg cabs. GM has a plant in Mexico that builds crew cabs also. All extended cabs are from here at Ft.Wayne. Happy to hear one of our products has served you well.

Most of the new trucks are built in flint, Michigan. There's another plant somewhere in the south, Texas I believe, where top kicker is, that builds the rest.

I worked in Arlington,TX for over two years. They build the Tahoe, Surburban,Yukon, Yukon XL, and Escalade. I was there for the launch of the 07 to present bodystyle. I work at Ft. Wayne now. It's hard for me to keep up w where I work myself.

That's right. I knew the ext. version was exclusive somewhere. I took a tour of the Flint Assembly not too long ago and it sure is impressive how they build those vehicles these days!

I refer to it as "organized chaos". Yes. The build process is impressive. It's amazing how timing of parts delivery, getting the parts to the line, building each job in station, passing inspection points, turning the key and passing final process, to loading for delivery all over the world takes place under one roof.

We were in Ft Wayne twice this fall, first returning from from Keeneland (Lexington, KY) and last for Old Fort Cluster dog shows. Both times we stayed at Johnny Appleseed campground and thoroughly enjoyed the visit.

As a recipient of one of your trucks, I have to agree...My '11 GMC is the best truck I've ever owned....And my previous GM's were impressive as well...They just keep getting better....Good job.

I honestly think the new GMC/Chevy truck lineup is the best looking ever.

Thanks Tim. Always good to hear from an individual that is happy with one of our products. You have a great looking truck. We build very few trucks with all the options you have (6.2L w all the goodies). When I see a truck like yours, it really stands out among all the fleet trucks that are rolling down final line. I'm a big fan of the All-Terrain package also (a grade above the Z-71 option), Post another pic of that black, chromed out tire smoker we built for ya if you don't mind.

Topkicker: Per your request:

It's not a Z-71 for some reason...Very strange package on this, guessing someone ordered it this way..ie..No aux lighting, no Z-71, but has the 6.2, 6-speed, a locker, Sabili-Track, Adjustable pedals, Leather, power rear slider, park assist, integral trailer brake, some kind of handling package, and the chrome bling amongst other things...Might be one of one made, who knows...

I still say that is the best looking GM truck I have ever seen. The larger wheels take up the space in the big squared off wheel wells and make it along with that grill.
