I'm sort of just playing with you- new door is a possible scenario, junkyard or off the shelf, but I don't really think it is best or worst solution...
As far as insurance, my company said they would NOT pursue my town in court even though they graded the dirt road with NO signage of any kind, and my wife drove over a huge boulder she was forced onto due to a UPS truck in her lane. She had to cross over the sweep from the grader that was about a foot high in her lane, and took out the oil pan, floor, exhaust, etc on a car with about 500 miles on it They paid for it and did not rate me up- accident forgiveness- since we had no hx of accidents to that point. They said for small claims cases they just pay the cost and don't bother pursuing the 'defendant's side. Total was around 2K.
