Hi All,

Enjoyed reading all your posts and learning a lot about the potential my new tractor will bring.
I'm based in Australia and unfortunately while our dollar is on par with the US$, prices are still higher.
I plan on using my tractor mainly for mowing 5 acres and some landscaping work.

I have now decided it is a Kubota I want and am down to two options.
1/ a 3 year old BX2230 with a 60" MMM deck and loader $15K
2/ a new BX2360 with 60" MMM Deck and Loader $24K

I may have an option of buying a friends 60" deck he doesn't use but waiting to see whether it will fit. Also considering holding off on the loader and putting a rear PTO scoop on the machine (is this a bad idea?)

Clearly the price is the main hurdle but is 9K worth a 2 year warranty or is it worth the risk as the machine is in very good condition.

Regards
Stuart

Those prices are very high compared to here so its hard to give any advice there. Only you can decide how much the warranty is worth. Drive both and that might help you decide. I will say that either way i would get the loader now. After having one I can't imagine doing without it. Never used a rear scoop but can't imagine it would compare very well to a loader. Good luck with your decision!!

Wecome to TBN :welcome:

My BX23 is 8 years old now and I've replaced nothing except fluids...Runs like a swiss watch. If they are taken care of, they are very reliable and trouble free.

The real issue is whether the previous owner of the used one mantained and treated it properly..If yes, then I'd go used for that price difference. What hours are on the used one?

Get the loader either way...Once you have one, you'll wonder how you survived without it.

How many hours does the BX2230 have? I'd check the age...I bought when the BX2230 was being phased out and the BX2350 phased in and that was at the end of 2005. Maybe it's a little different in Australia, but saying it is a BX2230 means the tractor is at least 5 or 6 years old.

Not sure what a rear scoop gains you...the ones I've seen are pretty mickey mouse compared to a front end loader.

If the BX2230 was kept inside and has any fewer than 300 hours, it would be tough to overcome the price difference. If the BX2230 is used up...stored outside and has a pile of hours...I'd stay away from it and buy new.

Thanks,
Good info on the age of the tractor, that said it's only done 350 hours and been looked after very well.
I went over it thouughly and couldn't really fault it.

They're willing to let me trial it so I think I may get it out and give it a good run - should uncover whether the hours and condition is genuine.

Hope it works out...That's just barely worn in at those hours.

hi snoakes

that new tractor price seems a bit high, i was told $16.5K for a bx2360 with a 60" MMM (no fel) ... how much is a loader? $4K ... the used machine is priced ok if its in good nick and you know the history.
If used for mowing 5 acres you should average 100hrs/year or less.
I agree about the scoop, won't do much, i would be hesitant to use one.

cheers
