Here's my problem

Front blower 51"

Rear blade 60"

4.5" overlap/spoil on back per side

Was thinking about wings but...

Has anybody ever widened a blower? I was thinking of just buying the front shafts+augers and widening the working width to 63"!

I called the dealer for a 63" blower and even with trade in of 51" it's still $2500!!

This is for a kubota b2920

Unless you need that 63" rear width it would be simpler and less costly to narrow the rear blade. Possibly retain the blade ends and make them into fold back or detachable wings so you put them back on for summer use.

Reason I do not want to go this route is that I do residential snow removal and the tractor could easily handle the extra width!

Also it would reduce my time/drive increasing profit/hour

Thanks for the reply

It will cost you every bit of that to modify yours.......if it can be done.

My advice is to make suitable 'wings', or buy the bigger blower.

Have you checked material costs for new auger(s) and steel? Do you have the facility to do it yourself? And also consider downtime, what if it snows while blower is in pieces? Just things to consider versus the $2500 trade.

How about trying advertise your 51" for a couple weeks, see if you can sell out right then buy the 63", dealer trade allowance is considering his resale profit margin.

I'd get a bigger blower. But then again I love to spend other peoples money.
Or a smaller blade, or I'd just angle the blade.

Material costs about $500

Looking at the blower it is all flat pieces of 3/16 mild steel plate

I've got the equipment and know how to do

I would finish the winter as is and modify in the spring or summer

When I had my Kubota L39, my Mackee M520 snowblower measured 72" which was perfect for that tractor's width....when I upsized to my current M59, I found the wheels tracked into the banks when turning....I added wings on the blower extending the width to 81", 41/2" on either side.

It's worked perfectly for my needs and a lot cheaper than replacing total equipment.

If you do go that route, post pics please? :)
