I'm a longtime Deere customer and thought the tractor I bought from them in 2002 was a good value. When shopping for a new tractor in 2011, Deere seemed very overpriced to me. I just couldn't justify it, though I still happily wear my Deere hat.

I wasn't in an uproar, I was just wondering. And I really don't see how some see them being overpriced, they may be some change over but when I compared the most difference was about $3k between all models.

As you know Martin, I was tractor shopping at the end of last year. If JD was only 3 grand less, I would of bought it. But alas it was far more different than that.:thumbsup:

Oh I know Deere definitely has a "premium" but they have quality machines and the best dealer network in my area. Every make has it's ups and downs, you have to find what's best for you...

Murph, I really don't feel like getting into this, but my ankles are already wet so I'm jumping all the way in.

100% of tractors will have problems, I don't always have time to fix it myself and with Deere's expansive part network if the dealer doesn't have a part they will usually overnight.

I compared, and yes I paid more than some other brands, but I found that although I paid more upfront I get more in resale down the road, so it really makes up for it.

I don't have a "problem" with any tractor, I find them all to have their own strengths and weaknesses, but a tractor brand can give you good service and bad service. I've had the best luck with Deere. I almost bought a Kioti 13 years ago as it was equally good of a tractor but it lacked the support, and since that dealer has shut down, so I believe I made a good decision.

True...buy a Deere and it's unlikely you'll have to use a service dept. Odd are, the only parts you'll need are normal service items (filters and such).

The OP asked about the 3x20 series Deeres...why do you think it's necessary to rain on his parade with your negative posts?

Roy, I asked the poster a question. As usual some of the Name Brand JD owners jumped on me. I think Childish went all around. You Think? What really turned me off of Deere besides price was the front axle problem they are having. And before you tell me "What front axle problem" I read about here, then decided to get a quote anywho. As I drove up low and behold there is a 3520 and a 3720 on jack stands with the front ends torn apart.Why they did this outside where customers can see?I don't know. As far as Dealer network most dealers in a area are owned by one or two groups of people.:thumbsup:
