Subsoiler build ...

I've been reading some about ground moisture and water run off and decided I needed to subsoil ... so yesterday afternoon and this morning using scrap's I build one ... Now please don't be to hard on me, I'm not a pro welder and its all scrap material....got done about noon and then tried it on about 5 acres.

I was amazed at how hard the ground is ... No funny wonder I have so much run off ... this is going to help retain the moisture and help the plant roots. I'm going in about as deep as it will go and I believe that around 18" and a couple times it made 55hp and 4x4 snort alittle.

I'am being serious,I think that design is a dang good idea and it came out nice !
Looks like good results too ! :thumbsup:
Maybe you could tweak your design with some kind of shear protection or heavy duty spring load.

Not a thing in the world wrong with that!! I like it, but my only concern would be the same as Bullbreaker mentioned..... what's gonna happen when you come across that one immovable object???

Thanks Guys ... I did give some thought to a break away/shear pin design ... thats a little advanced for this country boy!!

Good news is in my country you can dig forever without hitting a rock ... not saying some hidden foreign object may raise havic !!!

I quess in the event something does go wrong I will have to re-evaluate and deliberate (bull ... how ya like them big words for an okie !!! ) a break away / shear pin design.

When I layed it out I put one dead center and the other two centered on the rear tires...I'm am wanting to add coulters in front of the rippers... the coulters will cut the sod and hopefully not tear up so bad for hay field renovation.

So if anyone has used Plow coulters for sale let me know.
