Trespassing signs

65 acre tree farm and the route game takes from the river to the National Forrest. Law in Louisiana does not require signs as all land is posted unless you own it or have permission. I have signs, cameras (some are long since broke) and a couple of camera taking pic of cameras. After tracking down everyone I could rundown on my 4wheeler or identify from pics (w/help from Sheriffs office) have been talked to. They don't come back. One did call and ask for permission which I gave. Reputation has spread and thats the best no trespassing sign there is. Neighbor to the W reloads for the Sheriffs gun range. He shoots a lot to random check his reloads. Most neighbors think its me and I don't say nothing. A few "range" signs w/bullet holes help too.

Here in Texas I'm told we can paint post or the trees with a splash of Purple Paint at a visible hieght to mark private property. This tells all who see it that tresspassing is not allowed. Now I dont have this done on my property I use a registered sign from national association of property owners. plus a signs that states Nothing Inside Worth Dieing For! and ...You Are In Range!

That reminds me of a sign from a Louis Lamor novel. There was a gate with a sign on it that said "This sign ranged for a 50 cal Sharps"

I was told by a couple officers here the only way to have a guard dog and not get sued when it bites is you have to have both a "Beware of dog" sign and a "guard dog on duty sign" put up and clearly posted.

They said it was because all the beware of dog sign says is beware there is a dog here and doesn't imply that the dog bites or guards the place, so that doesn't protect you if your dog bites.

Does your dog bite?

No, my dog doesn't bite.

**GARRRRRRRR**

I thought you said your dog doesn't bite!

That's not my dog.

I have a sign that a friend made for me it says "Anyone on this property that is not authorised will become part of the property" RIP.

Yes it is. But that law actually derives from old English laws permitting anyone to traverse through your property as long as they aren't causing damage. And it is one of the origins of the Constitutional guarrantees permitting free travel between states.

.
There's no trespassing offence for unfenced and unlocked (gated)
areas here . If you don't have to scale a fence or by-pass a locked gate
you can walk around . Plus , there's no dog or it too would have run off.
It's a problem in the hills up here . We all look out for each other , but with
only 5 properties along the road we mainly have to listen for vehicles on the gravel ,
for clues . I've had 4 lots drive up my 220 yard drive to the house
in the past 2 years , and turn around . I get their vehicle number , but
don't phone the Cops.

Now that I can use paint to post I am doing so. See previous reply. :D

I used two cans of spray paint to post about 1200-1500 feet of property line. What was funny was that I bought the paint a month or so after the law went into effect. It was amazing to see how few cans of purple spray paint was on the shelf compared to other colors. I cannot believe that purple is that popular of a color. :D

I have used the yellow posted signs that I think are made from Tyvek. These signs are hard to rip but they degrade within a year or so if in sunlight. I would find these signs missing or torn off a tree. A first I thought someone was pulling down the signs but then I noticed how brittle the signs had become and there were little holes all in the sign. Eventually I figured out the sun light was destroying the sign and the little holes were from tree rats running up and down the trees. Eventually the signs would just blow off the tree or the tree rats would pull them down.

I will still use the signs since I have a big roll of them but I think the purple paint will last much longer and I can mark more the of the property line. It takes a big tree to put up a 120 sq inch sign. :)

Later,
Dan

Posting purple is legal here. It can be applyed to tree bark or signs and locked gates. I still have a couple of metal Keep-out , no-tresspassing signs too..

Place a few game cameras on the routes they are using to approach your fields, document time of so called "Trespassing" to camera pics.
Pa. sucks as to enforcement of "No Trespassing" laws in regards to Montana and Texas.
Land owners have to be "Creative" in Pa. to deal with this.

This is true. One of my best friends is a retired PA state trooper and he has had to testify many times in court for tresspassing cases. He says the biggest problem is the liberal judges let the tresspassers go unpunished.

I have had so many issues/problems with intruders / trespassing / poaching/theft etc. the chief of local LE & local judge & PA game comm. advised me to keep my property posted . Posting has never stop the ahole from doing there ahole thing . But ,LE says without posting they can't /won't do much about it .
I've been however looking for a specific sign . Tyvex roll ,florecent orange background, black lettering , No Trespassing A few years ago I saw these used & would like to find this sign. Any help?
Over the years I've been creating very thick natural hedge perimeter using thorntrees, binlaudinjaggers, poision ivy vines, and dozing brush piles into places. This has proven the best deterant against the arrogantaholes.
