L3240 vs. L4400

I leave the stall guard on but I usually use the H-DS feature before the stall guard would kick in. Is it needed, no but the features of the HST+ are nice. The good thing is that if you never had them then you'll never miss them.

Does anyone know if the third function valve installed at the rear of a L4400 the same as what you get when you get a Hydralic Thumb installed and or the installation of a remote ? Anyone know the answer or explain what all this means as I wish to be able to use other implements apart from backhoe with hydralic thumb at rear of the L4400 HST 4 WD with 4 FEL if I buy it.

Hi guys...does anyone know if the L4400 HST 4 WD can lift up or down a pallet of bricks off a tray truck using a pallet forks? Can it shift timber cabins etc?

I cant get a bh92 on an MX5100 in Australia and the other bhs are too small..

can anyone explain the issue of the rollback angle is much better on the loader of the MX4700 or MX5100 than the L4400

The MX models (and Grand L's over, I think, 40 hp), have a larger and stronger loader (LA8xx series) than what comes on the L4400. Heavier front axle, more hydraulic flow, slightly longer wheelbase, etc. A full pallet of bricks is still very heavy and may be marginal even with the larger loader.

The bucket curl geometry on the LA8xx loaders is different (uses a "4 bar linkage"), which influences measurements like roll-back angle.

We never did find out how much a pallet of these bricks is supposed to weigh??

Because I am betting the MX and even larger grand L's wont lift one.

I get pallets of landscape bricks at menards. They are even hollow on the underside, so a lot of air space in a full pallet. And even them weigh 2500#

Which means you need a loader capable of about 3300# at the pins where they are commonly rated. That puts you in a pretty large tractor.

If this is a main priority, have you looked into the forklift attachments that go on the back??

Someone made the comment that the L3240 is better if your going to use it every day whereas the L4400 is better couple times a month.

That statement concerns me and as I intend to use the BH and the FEL a few days per week, i'd really like to know what was the main issue or reason why anyone would make the above statement. The statement did not make sense to me, for obvious reasons.

I dont know who made the comment, but it was probabally concerning the fact that the grand L is a delux model and the L4400 is a standard model. That means the ergonomics and extra features of the GrandL might be nicer for day in and day out use.

Kinda like driving a cadallic everyday with power everything, or an old 3/4 ton truck with power nothing.

lol that seems an extreme comparison. Do you mean the L4400 is that poor or so outdated a Tractor?

No, it is not poor or outdated. Just an economy model that doesnt feature all the bells and whistles like the luxurious GrandL. The Economy tractors are aimed at people who want the most tractor for the money, and dont want/need the fancy stuff.

Sure, fancy stuff is nice. But when I bought a tractor, I was stepping up from an 8N, so even my L3400 seemed pretty fancy.
