DK45 starting question

   / DK45 starting question #21
I would have posted sooner but I still don't have my repair order to tell what has been done. But tractor still smokes on cold start cool or warm weather. But it does not miss any more on cold start. Dealer was nice and picked up and dropped back off at my house. Fixed other complaints. I had to have two calls with tech before he would even look at glow plugs. Started telling me that the smoke was from extra fuel dumped in before cold starts. I did try to find the glow plugs as suggested but with a/c compressor on top of engine and the angle of the hood, I said this is under warranty the dealer can fix. On the plus side, what ever they did turned on the power. Impressive! I also sugguested the timing as stated above and maybe that is what they did, but it worked. Going to buy a second tractor soon, might try Bobcat next, sounds like they don't smoke and they have free loaders at this time.

They just spray white paint instead of orange but the loader is Bobcat's own.

Stick with Kioti, why change horses in mid stream? From what I've seen looking at the tractors first hand at my local dealer, Kioti still has an edge on the Bobcats, due to what comes standard on the Kioti: for instance much better seat, not some cheap one piece that's going to snap in half in no time, etc., etc. And so far as Bobcat's NOT smoking- says who? They're the same engine as the Kioti, but a different paint color on the outside and some different suppliers of the standard equipment like FEL. etc. Neither brand will smoke if properly set up, maintained, and started using the glow plug system as intended by the engine manufacturer.

JMHO, and first hand observance. You decide based on feature to feature comparison, not a pie in the sky wishful thinking hope. And consider you may have more influence with your selling dealer as a repeat customer in terms of incentive on the second tractor and his servicing of it.
Good luck in your decision, and make sure you carefully read the terms of warranty for commercial use. It does differ significantly, in some aspects, I believe.

My dk45 has smoked a little from the start but sound like it's going to fly a part if the motor is cold but works it's self out quickly. I have a neighbor that has a dk 40 that smokes everytime it's started but that tractor has had a really hard life and not looked after at all.
