Kubota 5740 and a new Air Ride Seat

As normal, very nice work, since you got a different model of seat did you need new hole to mount the new.
The seat I used is a little shorter in height compared to the OEM seat, this gives me more thigh height room, which was very important to me.
You will love the for/aft option....

Thanks DDT. You've the low profile seat. I checked the specs on yours and it would be 6" lower than the original seat but considering you have your mounted on a plate above the seat pan cavity yours is about 4" lower than the original seat height which would be perfect for what you needed.

Yes I had to fill in the original holes with the Mig then re-drill the new holes. I have the For/Aft insulator coming in but don't see how it could improve the feel of the seat as it is. I just love the thing. You have the low profile seat.
Mine is a narrow based seat but the same height as the original seat. My only concern was the extra width of the armrests but as luck would have it, it all worked out perfectly. I wanted the narrow base so that it would sit in the cavity of the floor pan and as you can see I had to modify the pan but it was worth ever minute I spent on it.
Thanks to you and your original post. It was very helpful to me.

Fantastic job! Nice to have a shear to make those filler pieces. I have to use my plasma or snips. Maybe someday. I will definitely add the seat to my list of mods down the road. When I do so I will want to get with you for the specs on the specific seat. I want it to fit like it was there from the factory. Just curious, how much difference in height would there be if you build the pan by lifting the front instead of dropping the back?

Thanks. No problem on the help. Just ask away when your ready. If you went and lifted the front you'd drive the seat and extra 2.25" higher plus It just wouldn't look right in my opinion.
I've thought this out pretty good and I was left with this only option that I took and It looks as if it came with the machine but when you do it be very particular on the placement of the seat because you only have an inch to play with but it's a well worth while mod to your tractor. I just hate the original seat  :D

I was guessing around 2" from the pix. And I agree, that it looks factory. I was just curious. BTW will be looking for some input from you in a post coming up in the next day or so. I welded a 2" receiver tube to my pallet fork frame and will curious if you would add some tension cords for extra support. You'll see the when I post the pix. Thanks for your help.:)

4 shorts......

......The orginal seat had a 15 degree swivel in it that I never used. I really didn't like it. If it was going to swivel I'd rather have it go farther than 15 degrees but with these cabs being so narrow that can't happen and now with this larger Grammer it's impossible but I'd never use the swivel if it could only go 15 degrees anyway.
By the time Sunday comes we will have had three snow storms so I got this seat installed just in time to enjoy it.
Thanks for commenting
.........

The cabs on the larger frame tractors are wider. My 9000 and 105 share the same cab dimensions except the 105 has the undermount a/c unit whereas the 9 has the overhead.

I need a swivel seat becaue I need to sit to the side when running sidemounted haying equipment. I typically have the seat angled except when round bailing or going down the road....

Both my units have flat floor mounts and the mount holes were already per industry standard so it was a matter of removing the old spring adjust base and installing the new base and plugging in the compressor to the auxillary harness thats already there. I mounted the compressor directly to the lower base and the height air rockers came with the bases so a set of new air lines and I was good to go. Even the cover accordian fit the National base so it looks factory...

You can't beat air ride and I kept the fore-aft isolator too so I can play trucker.......

I'm perfectly happy with the OEM seat except the suspension sucked. I fixed that.

My OEM seat(s) actually look just like yours.

Keep the snow. It's almost spring down here.........:D

Seeing I just had a birthday a little while ago my son picked up the cost of the shipping. He keeps telling me I'm the toughest person in the world to shop for.

I'd say he's right. I know I'd have no idea what to get you for Xmas or your B'day because I'm sure you've already got anything I could come up with that I can afford.

I bet those seats turned out great for you. With a wider cab and a flat floor you can do allot with. If I had the width I'd have the swivel. Although I have a rear blower it really don't get used much. The 5740 or any Grand L really fits my needs for what I need it for. I have to get into some pretty tight spaces and I like the speed that I can use the smaller tractor. I am enjoying this seat though.
We've been getting snow every day this week and we just got issued a storm warning starting tonight and for tomorrow.
We got another two months of winter yet. The ground hog couldn't get out of his house here to see his shadow because he was snowed in

oh man. My sons get so stressed out trying to buy me gift but the last year or more I came up with a great idea. I always feel bad when they buy me something. I'd rather they use the money on themselves. They are both military boys living away from home so I've told them not to buy a gift but to send me a gift card from Canadian Tire or Princess Auto which they have been doing. A month or so later I take the card and go shopping and buy them something out of it for them and send it to them as a "just because" gift. It works great and everyone feels good about it.
No point in getting old unless your getting smarter
