What is the deal with tractor websites?

I'm trying to build and compare tractors over the internet, every tractor manufacturer website I have been to has major problems.

John Deere - can't get their "build my tractor" to work at all

New Holland - got the tractor built, can't easily add the implements I want and get it all in one easy quote. Get an error message when I try to send it to dealers for a quote.

Massey Ferguson - General poor website design, I didn't even see a "build my tractor option"

Kubota - I'm having the best luck navigating their website, but it leaves a lot to be desired, definitely not an award winning website.

You would think major corporations could be able to hire some decent website builders.

IMO they all want you to walk into a dealership and get prices directly from them. Of course once at the dealer they can help nudge you towards spending a little extra money and tell you why their brand is the best.

Well they are out of luck, that's not how I do business, my free time is limited, but I have lots of computer time. I will get quotes on what I'm interested in over the internet then visit the dealerships that are willing to play ball.

I'm headed back to the MF website to try again, maybe I overlooked it, I was frustrated before I got there.

Auto sites are no better!
But then you really need to take a test drive- preferably a looong one- to see if the machine does what the adverts say.
I would rent a car for the weekend, and ditto a tractor, before taking on 4 or 5 years of payments.

Oh I plan on checking them out in person, but I want to weed out the dealers that are not wanting to deal before I make my personal visits.

Sent for prices on Kubota, JD, NH, and MF

JD's builder is currently down. I don't know why. I've had pretty good luck with it in the past and is much more detailed than the other manufacturers, but it does seem like it is always having problems.

To me, call for price translate to the dealer saying were pricing this so ridiculously high that if we showed the price you'd be stupid to want it so we're going to make you call and sucker you in... Hate those. Just tell me the dad gum price!

I'm 100% with you on that one, I hate talking on the phone.

I had one dealer e-mail me back with "how much do you want to pay"

I replied back "I want it for free, now how much are you willing to sell it to me for"? No matter what he comes back with, he's scratched off my list, I hate games.

the power of sales, sure you could build a tractor and possibly get a price, but you wouldn't be talking to the salesmen hearing the pitch. I went into JDs site and built a tractor and waited for someone to contact me. JD main company finally contacted me and asked if the local dealer ever got intouch{few weeks later}.I replied nope, but not to worry about it, figured you're making so much money you didn't need mine! IMO if you have a "build your tractor" feature then dangit honor it!

One of the main reasons I went with Bobcat was because of their website. It will let you price everything.

I didn't know Bobcat had a builder... until just now, so I built my Bobcat, got every option, I mean every single thing I clicked, yes that means I got two backhoes, etc, etc. I was thinking of sending the quote to dealer but I didn't think I could afford the $181,374.61 price tag

I just checked out bobcat's website, I agree it's the best one I have been to so far.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem my money is going very far for the tractor's they are offering. I sent it to the dealer anyway, maybe he will come back with a deal.

I started having problems with Deere's Build Your Own over the weekend, but was able to get there by first navigating the specific tractor I wanted to look at, and then clicking on the Build Your Own button. Contacted JD by email, they did say they are working on their site.

You have to wait until a promotional sale comes up. Which for Kioti and Bobcat is about every 4 months or so. The price you see on the website, is pretty much what you are going to pay.

They are easily the best value for performance in the market and believe me I looked at them all for close to a year.

Mine; 2010 CT235, loader with quick attach, 66" blower, and pallet forks. >> $21,300.

I like the looks of the bobcat, I need to see it in person though.

I looked at them a while back at an outdoor show, but my needs have changed since then, and I wasn't a serious buyer at the time.
