what brand of oil filter on your vehicles

Mann W917 filters on my Volvo and the wife's Caravan. Changed twice a year. Oil (Mobile1 5-W30 Synthetic) gets changed once a year (~10k miles).

In my cars I use Fram regular or TG when I can find it. I have never had an oil failure on an engine. On my tractors, I have original equipment filters just because I havent searched for a compatible replacement. When I bought the tractors, I got several replacements of all filters and that has been what I have been using. Now everyone is listing on here replacements that are a few bucks cheaper and supposedly better so I may try a couple of them but you cant beat the convenience of Walmart for auto filters or the price and they have always performed so I wont be switching on them.

just wondering what brand oil filter everyone is using on their vehicles. i have been using fram tough guard filters lately, but recently got into a discussion with some mechanics and they state fram filters are NOT very good and i should use wix or napa filters. the fram tough guard filters advertise well, stating they trap 6 times more contaminents and holds it better then the leading economy filter. says it traps 99%. that's pretty good if it is true. i have used napa gold filters before, but what do you think is the best oil filter and why? vehicles are gmc sierra 96 and 04 and 05 jeep liberty. the trucks do a lot of hauling/towing. i change the oil every 3000 miles and use pennzoil. thanks for all your responses.

I surviced neigbors JD tractor, used all fram filters. When engine was started, heard a terble sucking noise, removed hydralic filter and filter media had come out of filter. Had to truck to dealer, thousands of dollars later and 3 weeks got tractor back. Sent filter to Fram, they did make it right. A freind had one come apart in a new race engine. A fellow mechanic had one come apart in rebuilt truck engine, on start up. 3 strikes, your out!

I now use motorcraft in Ford, AC DELCO in GM, AGCO in oliver, JD in JD and Case in Case, learned the hard way! A FEW $ MORE FOR OEM,WELL WORTH IT!!!

I used the OEM's for years, then I had a AC delco to tear and leak into the oil pan. Just pulled out the dipstick and saw trash on it ?? WTH?? Cut it apart with tin snips and it had holes? I used Napa too, and Wix is supposed to be made by the same company.Never a problem with them. I cut my Toyota filters open and found out they were very well made. I started cutting filters years ago, just a pro engine builders and racers sometimes do. So IF you have a DOUBT, cut the old one open and see how well it is made??I did find out some Frams have cardboard ends glued to the media??It was common practice years ago, before spin on cartridges of today..

I forgot to add I am trying out the new Mobil one oil filters on my new car, as we are using the Mobile one 5-20 wt oil in it. I will be cutting up two other brands soon. We have a neat filter cutter at wotk, for used diesel filters. It just cut a ring around the flange and drops out whole element..Then we drain them for a week into can, before disposal.We don't have the filter crusher at this location, not enough usage??

Used to use Fram because their advertising sounded good. Talked to my mechanic and did some research on Fram and now use WIX. Won't go back to Fram.
