Here's something for we AR-15 fans:
Gunblast.com - Slide Fire SSAR-15 Buttstock - YouTube

I've done "bump firing" (that's done from the hip and is, IMHO, a waste of ammunition since you can't hit anything), but not with an AR-15.

Anyway, something to look at and maybe consider a purchase. Better buy soon though, I'm sure Obama's BATF (those lovable "Fast and Furious" guys!) will regulate this out of existence.

Yeah I can't believe this thing is for sale still. The government moves so slowly, that's the only explanation. It does for all practical purposes turn a semi into a full auto. And we know how much red tape is involved with class 3 weapons.

I started a thread about bump firing awhile ago when I first heard about it, everone's seen the "fat guy bump firing a Beretta" by now

While those type of things are fun, and I must admit that I have pulled the trigger on a full auto AR15 more than once. When I have to start feeding full auto weapons is when my conservative side kicks in and money becomes an object. I think everyone should fire some full auto weapons at least once in their life, because it does put a smile on your face, but who can afford to feed them? Not me for very long anyway.. I guess the most fun I had with full auto was an AR15 lower with a dedicated .22LR rimfire upper with a suppressor on it.. Now that was fun and cheap to shoot. About all you heard was a little noise from the bolt slapping back and forth, and the tink tink of the bullets hitting some steel targets out there.. No hearing protection needed. but sure kept you busy loading mags.:) Of course us guys on the range were lined up a dozen deep waiting on our "turn"

James K0UA

I fired a couple selective fire rifles while I was in the Navy...yeah, fun...but I've always considered selective fire the "crack cocaine" of the gun enthusiast...as well as a waste of money. It's fine when someone else is buying the ammo.
I would like to have a selective fire firearm though...almost bought one about 10 years ago (Vector Arms UZI).

A couple things come to mind right off....

Firs:t a Class 3 stamp and a very complete FBI background check...

Second: Documented need for it....

Third: A big wallet.......

I prefer a more sporting long range weapon that is more about accuracy than putting (high buck) FMJ's down range willy-nilly.......

Like a Chey-Tack or a Barrett 50 or my favorite .338 Lapua Savage 110 BA or 111 LRH (I have both by the way....).

While I do think they would be very fun to fire, and have little doubt that I'd easily pass a background check, the paperwork and cost of owning an automatic would be more than enough to deter me from ever seriously thinking about getting one. Heck, the ammunition alone would break the bank.

Like you, I have an affinity for long range single shot weapons that are highly accurate. I've never shot or owned one but think a having a .50 cal would be sweet even though I don't really have any need for one.

I think we can guess where he conceals it....

Just throwing this out for conversation since suppressors have been mentioned several times.

A few years ago Kansas made hunting with suppressors legal. Its about the same as CCH background check and a $200 ATF transfer fee and probably a grand give or take for the average suppressor.

Its another rich mans toy like machine guns etc. I know quite a few guys that have them but its more likely than not suppressors will not become the norm at the range or field here as cool as they are just to expensive to own jmho.

They are pretty neat and I have a couple guns I would buy them for if I had a mind to do so (which I dont) but I would enjoy just shooting with them.

The stigma of big bro being able to come sniffing around at any time day or night w/o notice gives me the creeps. Its not that I have anything to hide its just another right a person gives something of up to play the game and another name and address on a list in a goobermint office that doesn't like us to be armed.

Nah not paranoid just thinking out loud. :D

There's a group (might be within the NRA) working to remove the suppressors from the NFA list.
The idea behind this is safety and hearing preservation (although if you say "Silencer", people think "Mafia" or "Assassin"). In Finland, suppressors are quite legal and require no government approvals (or taxes).
If you query "Legalize Silencers" on Google, you'll get a number of hits (BTW, I know they're actually Suppressors, but "Silencer" is the more commonly used term, even if incorrect).
Here's one link: Legislation to legalize 'silencers' draws support Kitsap Sun for example.

BTW, I can't say I have the hots for a suppressor, but I'd sure like a 10" barrelled upper for my AR-15. Like you, I don't much care for "Big Bro" snooping around...

I've always thought that silencers being NFA was stupid but that's the government for you. If the "bad guys" want them, they will get them (or make them) NFA or not.

I dunno...since we're now all "terrorists" in the government's eyes...they might not wait.

Too funny :) ( or rather.. sad if you think about it.. )

Just keep in mind the physical attributes of a 'supressor', aka Muffler....

An oversize tube with discs of sound absorbing material inside and a bore through those discs equal to the diameter of the projectile...

Given those parameters...What do you imagine that you could fabricate a muffler out of that's a common penumatic industrial part.... and cheap too???????

Put on your thinking cap, I know you know????:)

My son had a 9" on his when he was on the SWAT team and I really liked it. He still has the upper, it just can't be on a gun.
