Well at any rate it is immaterial anyway because I will not be towing anything close to that anyway. It is to late out here tonight and I'm not going out again. Besides I have all the tractor trailers I need at my disposal anyway. It's what I do for a living. I kind of figured a long time ago that I'm not sure about anything anyway.

From what I just read on the GM web site the 2500 series has a 4,400# front axle, not the 6,000# axle. The 3500 series trucks have the 6,000# front axle.

I just hope the dealer did not feed you a bunch of bad info. I see it all the time. I am a part time trailer dealer and it happens weekly when I have someone come by with information that is not correct.

Did not know you were a trucker. You know all about axle ratings, GVWR, GCWR, ect. Sorry for going so in depth earlier. Most people I deal with selling boat trailers and utility trailes have no clue.

Good luck with the new truck.

No apology required Chris. I have been Managment for years now, though I still jump in a rig any chance I get. Being a trailer dealer you probably touch closer to this than I do. I know how to axle a rig at 80,000 with sliding tandems and 5th wheels but you might be better with my pickup

Yea, you lost me with all that big rig talk.:D I have some boats moved time to time by semi but I leave it up to the professionals like you.

I understand the hitch is rated at that but the truck is not. Its a common misconception. They use that hitch on many applications.

The GM web site is wrong on some info that I have gathered such as the front axle GVWR.

In your owners manual it will have a chart showing your tow rating based off your engine, axle, cab, and bed configuration.

Timber, follow Chris's advice. I almost got burned following tags and dealer info with a 8.1L Chevy. They kept feeding me 1 ton diesel towing info. According to the owner's manual, the truck had and actual tow cap of almost 3k lbs less. We just want to make sure you tow safely. Door and hitch tags can be deceiving.
