To hear the greenies tell it, the world will end if we have fracking. Of course the world is going to end if we have coal burning or nuke power plants. We can't have gas either though it was funny I just read of a greenie say to USE gas over Nukes. :D

I know danged well if we do not have power and energy it will be ugly. That bothers me more than fracking.

Later,
Dan

When they stop the power, then all of it will be Totally messed up. How much gas would it take to replace Muke Power???Too much, they should have read up on KW output from Nukes?? Tenn. is starting to build a fresh one, it has been a long time since Tva started theirs...But they Bury their waste out west in deep salt mines. I had always hoped they could recycle some of the spent rods, back into power circle?

I really do think the fracking companies...

Later,
Dan

For those of you who were "Battlestar Galactica" (new series from 2004-2008?), "Fracking" (may have been spelled "frakking") was the term used instead of our favorite 4 letter word not used in polite society.

How could go wrong. Easy failure to purchase land when it was 50 bucks and acre now over 3K .
The gas companys have also paid for the rebuilding of county roads Added black top for width and new culverts for drainage of the right of way.

That may have been the case, where folks could have purchased large tracts years ago, however, that is not the case here, typical ag land is selling between 2-5k an acre..before the gas boom. Therefore, someoe drilling on 20 acres can easily effect the values of nearby owners properties, those large tracts are not as common here as they are in texas and arkansas. I have a lot of family in arkansas, and am aware of some lease prices in the magnolia area, I am also familiar with the large tracts of family owned properties, and paper company tracts. What is good for ya'll is not always the best thing for everyone else.

Referring to gas companies making new roads and maintaining roads, I am sure a majority of that maintence, is payed for by GAS TAXES, implemented by the state. Currently we are the only state in the union not to tax gas, therefore, we pay for road repairs from state and local taxes, all the while we cut education.

All the gas men coming into the area are building new houses to live in. College is teaching gas industry courses and the men that take the coures are hired at a wage well above the normal adverage.
Town of Conway now has a growth that is the fastest growing city in This part of the nation.
including all the towns along the highways.

This will be short lived, much like the gas boom in houston of the 70's and 80's. Once the drilling is completed, the locals will be held to the new tax base, then where ya gonna find the money? Its short lived income for the area. It will be a matter of time for the boom to settle, then you and your family will be holding the bag, higher taxes, combined with potential health effects from the ones that did as they pleased and got away with it, as some have stated here, the lesser known companies with little to loose.

Maybe you think it should of been turned down so we could go back to a rural low income blited part of the state.
From my looking at PA. is there any part of Western of the state the coal companys have not trashed.with waste dumps and old looking towns. lack of tree and grass.
ken

That is the point, Pennsylvania has already seen the coal boom, we know first hand how the coal companies sold it to the land owners, the same way the gas compaies are selling it, they took what they wanted, then left the sate in the mess its in, we have lived the dream 50 years ago only to see the lasting effects. We have heard it all before how good it is. And quite honestly, the long term effects on peoples health, property values, and the environment outweigh any short term gains, except for 1% who profit.

If you're referring to Pennsylvania, the area is around a town called Centralia.
Here's one link (first one I picked on Google, but probably not the best one):
Centralia PA Mine Fire - Coal Burning underground, Homes destroyed

Roy, Right again, I had no thought of it for a long time. But not to worry, they mined the coal and took care of the situation there....We have a lot of Gravel pits around here. The land looks a s good or better after it is reclaimed. Ususally several big lakes are formed...l

As I'm writing this, a guy from the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection is walking around our rig checking things out.

I guess he didn't get the memo that everything we do is top secret and the government never checks on us to insure the rules are being followed.

You'd better get your Blackwater hired thugs to take care of this guy...
