That goes for me too. I of course liked the pistol but browsed the even more and discovered that they make a left handed AR. I just so happen to shoot left handed so naturally I am wanting one! Thanks Roy:)

My brother and brother in law are left handed and firing "right handed" rifles can sure be problematic; don't know why more companies don't offer them.

I guess it's whatever blows your dress up....

I just can't get excited about that style of firearm. What do you do with it?... But then, I've never warmed up to anything festooned with Picatinny rails on every side... One rail, on top is sufficient, for scope mounting

I like some beauty somewhere..... Those things have none. Testosterone maybe, beauty no.....

Just don't know what excites people about those tinngs.....

Give me my Kimber Crimson Carry Ultra anyday.

I see Santorium is doing well in cacuses. I hear he's a gun control fanatic but Roy would know, he's from Roy's home state.....

I have absolutely no use for one other than fun, but the same could be said of probably half my guns.

My sons have all kinds of stuff hanging off theirs and everything on them has a use, just depends on what you are going to be doing with it. All I have on mine is optics.

Yep, I'd love to have a Kimber, Wilson etc., but there again, too many wants and not enough $$$$$$$$$$$

That's news to me!!
I also shoot left handed...when I bought my RRA rifle, I thought about a Stag since they were they only ones with LH uppers (at the time).

TripleR and kf4uda: Yeah, I like the pistol...but I'd rather have the piston driven upper. Have either of you determined if the piston driven upper can be fitted to a standard lower?

My son had an M4 built for him with a standard lower; don't know who made it, maybe CCM with a piston upper; maybe POF, I'm not sure, but I do know conversions are available. My Sig 556 is piston driven and runs real clean and cool.

Me too, I have resisted the temptation to mod my 6601 1-7 H-Bar Match it is the absolute in what I believe a perfect rifle is imo.

If the temptation ever gets the best of me I would just buy another rifle already outfitted for 3-gun etc if I wanted all the add on goodies on one.

I came close a couple of times too, but mine is still stock.

I really like those 556's!!
When I bought the RRA, I had the Stag (in my hands) and two others...one was the 556, the other a Steyr-AUG (another rifle I really like).
I decided on the AR platform since it would double as a SHTF rifle...and, if one can operate an AR-15, one can instinctively operate (and take down for maintenance) an M-16 (which will be easily had in a SHTF situation...maybe with a little persuasion).
The only advantage of an AR-15 SBR is ease of handling inside a house...that, and they look cool.

Roy,

I can't answer your upper/lower combination question. I have not ventured into the AR15 platform yet but I have decided that I am going to. I bought a Ruger Mini-14 (580 series) a little over a year back. I like the Mini for what it is but now I think I want to get into the AR platform. I have handled a few RR AR's but didn't know they made a lefty version until today.

Strangely, a few years back I had no interest in the "black rifles".

Yeah, my son used his on the Police Force and actually carried it specifically for that, he had a regular M4 when not doing building entry. He also used it in a live fire "Kill House" where he trained LEO, Military and Civilian Contractors who needed something for entry or to deploy inside a vehicle.

For me it would be the cool factor as I have no need for one and they are LOUD.

I am not particularly good with the M4 or Sig, so not a lot of relearning for me.

Sig came out with the 516 for those who prefer the AR platform and it retains the gas piston of the 556.

Actually, it's mostly Roy.:laughing::laughing:

Same here, I bought my first one when my son joined the Army. We had bought him an HK91 for graduation and couldn't understand why anyone liked them.

Roy....BTW, I can't say I have the hots for a suppressor, but I'd sure like a 10" barrelled upper for my AR-15. Like you, I don't much care for "Big Bro" snooping around...

Just keep in mind the physical attributes of a 'supressor', aka Muffler....

An oversize tube with discs of sound absorbing material inside and a bore through those discs equal to the diameter of the projectile...

Given those parameters...What do you imagine that you could fabricate a muffler out of that's a common penumatic industrial part.... and cheap too???????

Put on your thinking cap, I know you know????:)

the probalem with that then, is the possesion of supressor parts, with no tax paid transfer for a supressor :)

Supressor's are fun.. besides.. it's kind to your neighbors so they don't have to hear the full auto 'braaaaaps' that you squeeze off from the porch.. :) just sounds like moths mating... :)

Yep, "Constructive Possession" of parts (do NOT have a select fire sear in your home if you have a semi-auto (that the sear will fit in) as well) will get you 10 year in Club Fed.
As I'd written earlier, it's BS...but it's held up in court
