Triple r, wasn't meaning to sound wrong thing..M-4 and sig have no simularitys except bullets come out of both barrels...I have NEVER like the m-16 , one of the cheapest sounds as it fires and the buffer moves. I had thought of going to trouble of BUYING another UPPER with the piston..for my BM and it is SEMI...But I will bet you I can dump all my Magazines at one time thru the BM and it won't stop up the tube??I do used south African surplus with great results..I do own an HK rifle too, but is .308..I am reading this because I like guns and the smell of spent powder, Plus one day I might use it to save my sorry skin? So we all are just having FUN and wishing for more parts...

I just took the time to view the two videos, posted here.. The seal gun looks impressive, only rifle other than the AK$7, that i have seen buried in sand and mud. Plus the firing directly from water immersion...The rifle you bought looks very simular to operating like the HK91...probaly a hybred design...I also like another bush rifle, it is heavy and dependable, Called FN-FAL>>>will shoot any ammo, carried in most countrys for years. But is BIG and shoots hard...It looks like the SEALS have some of the BEST....I am Proud of them and for Them..

Without a doubt the operating rod guns are a superior system combining the best of the AR platform (accuracy) and the AK platform (durability). But for us Saturday shooters my AR15 with direct gas inpingment system will suffice. I can afford the luxury of cleaning and maintaining the weapon. Plus I already own it free and clear:) Would I like to own a 416? yeah, but the old DPMS Panther will work for now.

Having shot my Sig556 piston driven rifle side by side to my son's M4, I really like how cool it runs and how clean the action stays. His has gotten so hot and gunked up with extended firing as to jam. Now a quick shot of lube got it running again and in the real world few will put their rifles through this kind of use.

There is a reason, when given the choice, Special Forces Units like the SEALS will pick the piston driven HK416 over the M4. I couldn't get the civilian version so the next best thing at the time was the Sig556.

HK416 Assault Rifle - YouTube

So like I said, much of this is new to me, I was more gung ho in my younger years, then I started having kids. I got to the point where I thought why does a suburban father of 3 need an arsenal of assault weapons and other dooms day survival equipment. Then 9/11 happened and I realised that maybe we're not as safe as we hoped we were and I better maintain that defensive capability I built up. Like in the true spirit of the modern civilian militia.

As mentioned piston drive is new to me, I didn't know Sig made assault rifles and I didn't know HK had an AR hybrid clone. I know HK is the cream of the crop in tactical weapons of course.
Watching that video of the piston drive HK the guy mentions at around :40 that the rod moves the bolt rearward, but I don't see how that is possible.
Doesn't the gun still have a buffer tube and spring? It looks like that rod just moves enough to maybe unlock the bolt??
Does your Sig have a buffer tube and spring???

I can appreciate how not channeling all that hot gas through the action of the bolt that it would run cleaner and cooler.
300 rounds full auto and they take the bolt out and hold it in their bare hands, I easy to see how this will be the next generation operating system.

You guys all talk about semi-auto's and I have a few but I'm going the other way to bolt action because, a bolt action is more accurate when shooting long distance and thats where the challenge is. 500 yards or better.

I prefer a bolt or single shot when hunting or target shooting.. semi auto is nice.. but..

Nope and you can see this with the Olympia Pistol in another post and the Sig556 pistol.

OK I'm confused, where does the bolt go, I was talking about the HK 416 in the video.

I think Roy asked if you could put the piston driven upper on an AR lower
HK 416 Upper

I'm trying to catch up learning about this gun, I can't figure out why HK would build a Colt clone, where they trying to get U.S. contracts for military supply? I think I read that they can not even compete for those contracts cause they are foreign.

So the 2 most cloned guns in the world came Colt, the 1911 and the M16/AR15.
