Same here, I bought my first one when my son joined the Army. We had bought him an HK91 for graduation and couldn't understand why anyone liked them.

Yup, a whole separate addiction

I like the AR platform because of all the military accessories available. Mags and poaches, web gear, bayonets etc. I get most of that free or very cheap.
I live just a few miles from Colt and Stag, plus all the contractors that build their parts and accessories for Government contracts.

I have not upgraded in awhile, never even heard of piston recoil.

That is an Hk 91 on the end, seems to be the favorite among the African warlords.

the probalem with that then, is the possesion of supressor parts, with no tax paid transfer for a supressor :)

Supressor's are fun.. besides.. it's kind to your neighbors so they don't have to hear the full auto 'braaaaaps' that you squeeze off from the porch.. :) just sounds like moths mating... :)

Must be a whole bunch of shops guilty of possession. Me included.

i believe there are certain parts that will constitute possesion.. of course depending upon if you have a registration paper or not..e tc..

Possibly. I buy mine blister packed in groups of 5. Each one is complete and depending on size, cost anywhere from 5 bucks each to 25 bucks each. I bet that's a whole lot cheaper than the offerings in gun shops....

These are anodized aluminum, usually black barrels and silver ends. Real pretty.

All I need to get them is a commercial account, which, I have....

You need to come pick up that compressor sometime......:D

Very nice selection, I only have the Sig556 and Colt HBAR, can't really count the Mini 14. My son's HK91 was bought in 1987, I "think" original HK91's are pretty costly now. I like it, but a bit heavy for this old man.

I will be getting a piston driven M4 just for grins one day as soon as I can decide which one as a lot of makers including Ruger now offers them. I know I don't need one as I have the Sig, but...

My HK is from that period as well and yes they are very sought after, and yes they are heavy! especially when compared to AR clones. Probably the Glock of assault rifles. I just read that an HK, was the last thing Bin Laden saw/felt :D
Piston driven to boot.
77gr of justice from an HK416 likely last thing ***** bin Laden saw | Military Times GearScout

I had my first AR (converted to the CAR15) when I was 18, over 30 years ago, when they still had the triangular for-end. So my stuff is pretty old school, the Hbar is the latest edition, and that's over 20 years old.

Just learning about some of this new stuff, and like you say all these interesting gun threads/ topics is getting me randy to go buy something.

Okay Guys would you please tell me just how many of you have clogged the gas tube on your AR rifle???I believe it would take thousands of rounds and then only if it auto fire and maybe some bad powder...Please tell about the hundreds of dollars spent to convert your "Civie" rifle to piston is worth it. I fire a Bushmaster and never had the tube problem..I don't even have the pipecleaners that were used during Viet conflict..and these rifles are way better than the m-16 I fired? Yeah ,,,a piston is the newest, bestest, but reallyy???

I haven't done much research on piston AR-15's yet...some reading, but not a heck of a lot.
As you wrote...not many occurences of the gas tubes being problematic. One thing I do like about the piston rifles is that it does away with the buffer tube.
Now, is it worth the $$$? Probably not...more a desire then a need.
