I cought in time: 17 grains of H110 for 180 grains bullet in 357 Magnum

That would hurt a lot:)

Some of those kind of mistakes only get made once. Glad you found it!

I use a Dillon 650 with the powder check system. It lets you know if you double charged or failed to charge a case. It works very well.

so 3.5 grains over max load... yeah that would have been a "hand full of he**" Nice proof load, maybe 50,000CUP or so. or more. Glad you found it in time. I have seen a couple of ruptured topstraps, and blown out cylinders. Not up close and personal, but in the gunstore.

One reason I like compression or near-compression loads. You cannot always find a good load to do this unfortunately - particularly in pistol ammo. Very glad to hear you caught it in time Prokop!

You made a BOMB in a 357 casing! A double charge is a easy thing to do with pistol loads be carefull!

All it took was nodging the 10 grain weight from the groove on the bar scale. For some reason I did not notice it till the end.

Used powder thrower but set it up to this messed up value. Just a reminder to be more careful next time.

I have got a question for you fellas....I have 2 older 38 cal. police specials...one with a 4 " barrel and a snub nose...the one with the 4 " barrel must be over 60 yrs. old but in excellent condition the other, the snub nose is probably 30 yrs. old...Can I fire the new 38 cal. hollow points in these pistols or do I need to stick with just standard 38 cal. ammo ? thanks..

If the guns are sound, you will be OK with regular pressure .38 Specials, just not the +P load. A friend of mine had one made in the 50's he shot with the . 38 Special hollow points.

Those old Colts would get out of time, so you might want to check them or have a gunsmith look at them.
