Teg,

Unless I'm reading it wrong, these specifications are not the same as what Sean has set his valve up with in the "L3400 3-point hitch adjustment" thread.

How do you determine the correct specification? Is there a serial number break point?

If this all works out well. I'm looking forward to fixing mine, but I want to make sure I set it up right.
The diagram above is from a totally different valve... I DO NOT KNOW for which Serial Number / model. - I will dig into my manual to see where I got that diagram. Yes, it will be Serial Number dependent - and I think that's per model! (but not sure).

I think there are many Position Control Valves used throughout the production. So it's going to be real hard to figure some of this stuff out...

I have to go through my WSM to see what it says...

After checking into a little bit more:
Sean is talking about either the valve YR908-00104 or -00102 (he mentioned both) The one I listed **might** be 31391-39002 (L2800 pre SN-53276) OR YR909-00100 (best guess L2800 SN-53277-57745) OR 31351-39604 (again best guess L2800 SN-57745 till who knows when???) I'll know more once I find where the heck I got that post :confused2:

ALSO, I have no clue / guesses for the L3400 (and very far removed from the L3700, L3200 and L3800) It's a big old can of worms and the best thing is to have a happy dealer willing to help you.

I'll call a few of the local dealers. Hopefully one of them will be happy :)

I was getting the wrong impression from the other thread that the specifications were the same regardless of the valve. Thank you for the clarification. I'll add any information I able to gather from the dealers.

According to the information I have, this type valve (31351-39604) is the newer "square" style, or Type 3 valve, the 31391-39002 has the rounded corner and is a Type 2 style. This is from Kubota's general tractor manual. I don't have general access to that manual, only bits and pieces as it belongs to another person.

As for the YR909-00100, that one seems to be a bit of a mystery. I believe that the 313xx-xxxxx #'s are "code numbers" for the different types of valve (2, 3, etc) and the YR909-00100 is the actual Kubota part #. I'll try to do some more research on that today.

It's such a tangled web of information that it's a guessing game for most of us.

Well...if it helps any with your research, mine had the following #'s stamped right on the valve.

31391-1-a4076

It does have the rounded corners, and it also has a little metal plate on the side where the 12.5mm and 16mm specs are measured. You can see that in the pic I posted in the other thread.

And the diagram that TEG posted and you linked in the other thread, showing the 12.5mm spec, you can see that plate in the diagram.

Based on the number stamped on my valve ^^^ I'd assume it is the 31391 style. Type 2??

Definitely a type 2 as far as I'm concerned.

As I read through this old thread, I thought about the dealers that replaced a valve to remedy the problem. I think that they "replaced defective valve" and "adjusted new valve" to be able to collect warranty dollars. Kubota apparently does not believe that there is a problem so unless something is defective, there is no warranty coverage. By replacing "defective valve", they have something to gain them the warranty coverage.

I suspect that had they performed the adjustments on the original valve, it would also have solved the problem in most cases. With the constant new versions of valves, it seems that there are problems with them (or they would not waste money with new versions). Perhaps the adjustments are too difficult for the skill level they have doing the initial adjustment.

I know the local dealer here has trouble keeping highly skilled labor and I would not have my loader greased there, let alone anything that required real skill.
