I guess you could, but the neck lengths are different. I could probably neck size 300 Savage with same die too.

I would prefer to have the die set for each cartridge. Standard dies are not that expensive.

I do have a set of dies for each caliber I reload. And on another note guys be careful if you use 30-06 brass to make 270 or 270 brass to make 30-06, one could easily chamber it in the wrong gun squeeze the trigger and make one **** of a mess!

The custom dies for 30-06 Ackley Improved were pricey though. That brass is fireformed byt shooting standard 30-06 thru the Ackley Improved chamber. Then it sizes and seats with with it's own special sizer and seating dies.

They are RCBS. I got the rifle from a friend recently. I believe they were custom; he had this done about 15 years ago. I remember him have the gunsmith work with RCBS to get all that done correctly. I'll have to ask him about that.

Another sight advantage the .308 has over the 30'06 is powder column length. The conventional wisdom is that a shorter fatter catridge will give more consistant ignition from the primer. An example is the .300 WSM or Winchester Short Mangum. Bench resters especially, discovered that as the spark from the primer spreads into the powder, that a short fat column ignites more evenly than a long narrow column. Makes very little difference for hunting applications. However, at bench rest matches or 1000 yd long range the difference can be noticable.

Nosler Partition is my go to bullet for hunting. sounds like you will have a fine hunting gun with that 06 A.I. should be able to produce 300 wm proformance, with less powder, and recoil!! :thumbsup:

You should see the Elk my buddy has mounted in his livingroom. The rifle has black marks on the stock from riding horseback thru part of the area burned in the fire near Yellowstone.

Been a good week for finding deals,Sat bought Speeco tractor mounted t-post puller for $2.04. Now today bought this 760 in OTT-6 for $250 came with scope(lighted). Working now ain't had to much time too look it over . :dance1:
