I'm thinking about getting the 60" Kubota tiller (with my L3940 purchase). Would like to hear from anybody who has been using one. Seems like quite a bit more $ than various aftermarket offerings, but money isn't the issue here - I'm already spending some coin. Is the 'Bota unit any good?; worth the freight? Am open to other suggestions, too.

I had been researching 3 point tillers, but had not seen any with the Kubota label on them. They seem to have a relationship with Land Pride in some markets, but my dealer carries the Taylor-Way units. I guess it depends on what your Bota dealer has. My research seemed to indicate that the Land Pride was pretty close to top of the line, but I do not have any experience with them.

My Kubota dealer sells Woods implements. Other Kubota dealers in my area sell mostly Landpride or Woods.

I have a L3940 and I have a Landpride RTR 1572 and it's a nice tiller. The problem you may find with a 60" tiller is that it will not cover both rear tire tracks

I looked at several brand tillers I went with the Landpride because of parts availability at my local dealer. Everyone I have talked to that had the king kutter have been happy with them and the prices are pretty good

It should be noted that King Kutter owns Taylor Way. I have a TaylorWay 48" for my BX2360 that I haven't had the chance to use yet, but I have looked at the manual for the same 'xb' model from KK and it appears absolutely identical. I guess my point is that you're likely getting the same product no matter which you buy.

Disclaimer: I don't know for sure that they are the same. Do your research and buy what is best for your needs.

For the L3940, I'd seriously look at 72" tillers. The 60" is juuuuuust big enough for my L3240 with R1s. Another inch or two of track width and I'd have to offset with the 3pt hitch it to cover my right tire track. See if you can find a KKII 72". Many satisfied customers, here on TBN. Plus you'll save enough money to get something nice - maybe a set of pallet forks?

OK. Thanks for your comments.

I was just working off Kubota's online builder, (and haven't checked with the dealer yet), so I assumed they were offered and labeled as Kubota. Thanks for clearing that up. I certainly have heard of Landpride, Woods, and King Cutter; didn't know about the association between KC and Taylor Way.

I guess the reason I was initially thinking 60" was to fit into existing areas already being tilled with the old TroyBilt, but it's kind of a moot point if the 3940 is wider. Your points about it being a bit narrow for that tractor are well made, and I will consider that as I research my purchase. I would just as soon not have to offset it. I assume the 30+ hp @ pto will be sufficient to work the 72".

And you're right, BabyGrand, as set of pallet forks would be nice!

If you are building it online it will mot likely be a Land Price painted Kubota orange. I don't know for sure, but it works that way for their rotary cutters.
