Ken,

Here's what I copied off the Delivery & Pressure plate:
750 gals @ 150 Pounds @ 2250 RPM
525 gals @ 200 pounds @ 2420 RPM
375 gals @ 250 pounds @ 2640 RPM
750 gals @ 165 pounds @ 2330 RPM

The pump is Barton American Fire Pump
Type UA 75, Gear Ratio 1.92:1

OK, so that would be rated as a 750 GPM pump.

That really depends... In the my district, booster lines are only used for mop up and cleaning tools. They really do not flow enough water if a fire flares on you. We are really water conscious here, as we may be far from a water source. But, we still fight wildfire with 1-1/2" hose. We keep the nozzles set for low gpm, but can bump the water up if needed.

Sounds good! Properly used, a booster line with do a lot of firefighting without using as much water as a bigger line.

I'm jealous; I want an engine too, as I mentioned previously.

But cautious too... Please be careful. Even with training and safety gear, firefighters get hurt and die on fires.

Taylortractornut,

I'm 1.75miles from the VFD and I will keep it ready during the fire season. Thanks for the Tote suggestion I can use ours as the resevoir - good idea. This unit is sound and will be an asset to the ranch.

RobertN,

Thank you for the safety concern.

Definetly aware of the unfortunate happenings to firefighters as I work in the medical field. When I'm here in this community I'm most of the time on call and work days in diagnostic imaging. Front line ER etc. 2 years and 363 days I'm done and out to the ranch. This is where (attached pics)the fire apparatus (truck pic) will be with my other red machines.

Thanks again

No on the hourmeter question. If this means anything the truck engine is a 391 its not even broke in - has 7762 original miles on it!! Not bad for 47 year old fire truck. It was used for structural fires in this community of 1400. The more I look into this purchase on various web sites to see what's out there I now know I have a jewel.:)

Many rural or suburban fire trucks get few hours/miles on them, often more from training than anything else. I had a friend who was on a department (Cincinnati suburbs) that only had a dozen runs one year! At that point in time, their front line truck was 40 years old and in parade winning condition  I used to kid him, asking if they gave their people maps....to find the fire house!

Was just thinking it would be interesting to know how much your fire engine cost new, especially compared with the cost of the same type of equipment today. Did the FD replace it with a newer truck?

Nice truck and a good buy on your part. I doubt if you have any one whom wants more than 125lbs on a hose. Plus they will last much longer at 110 psi max...We used anyones surplus hoses on our VFD truck when we first started...Many people cannot handle a hose with over 100 psi on it..You difinitely want a good strainer on the hose ends if you hard suction out of anywhere...Pump repairs will put you right out of the fun zone..We used a 1500 gallon dump tank to free flow water and then suck it into the truck. Our Water lines will not allow a direct connection to any hydrant..Slipfittings...Enjoy the parades..

Amazing at the prices of fire equipment. Our dept bought last pumper at $90k, but there is not any comparison with old. Aluminum replaced most of the steel and much larger water tanks..Diesel power...
