I tend to agree with JT and others. I use PayPal to minimize card exposure.

And I ordered my Piranha today :)

Yes that is what I want to know too. It looks almost as good as a ratchet rake for ripping out brush and small saplings, but how long will it last digging in the dirt and when it encounters rocks.. If someone could use it for a while digging in rocky soil and report back..If it is good steel it should work ok. If it is soft, well not so much...

Yes please someone carve into a hill side or just do some digging.
I have a huge project involving cutting the lower part of the slope off and putting in a rock wall and another that involves removing alot of dirt ( Kentucky clay mainly ) to put in a new driveway.

It looks wicked but After the awe factor has toned down a little I'd like to know if it digs or more of a ripping tool. Nothing to rip here anymore except the neighbors car if he parks it in front of my drive again.;)

I have owned several Kubotas from a BX1500 up to a L3240 and several of the ones in between. I also live on a hillside. I bought my land about 9 years ago and built my house myself with the help of my Brother and my Wife.
There are times to pay someone else to do jobs for you. For me I've paid for some trails to be cut across a steep hillside with a tracked Loader (Safer than a Tractor). I've paid for some woods clearing with a Dozer (25 to 100 times faster than a tractor). You may want to consider paying someone with construction equipment to cut into hillsides if you've got an extensive amount to do and the same with the long drive way.
Dirt is extremely costly now and you may be able to get the road cleared for the dirt if you don't need it for yourself and don't get rid of it if you can see a future need for it.
A skid steer is also much faster than a tractor for these types of jobs and if you don't want to pay a skilled operater then consider renting one and doing it yourself. Skid steers are fun to operate but there is a learning curve so a skilled operater can do alot of work with one in a short period of time.
Tractors with FELs are for moving material and stuff. Tractors can also mow and push stuff. Digging is done with a BH on a tractor like for digging a hole for a tree or that type of digging holes but extensive amounts of digging are really time consuming with a small BH.

I am betting it would work pretty well for a "can opener";)

The Piranha digs very well!
At least a couple of guys have tried it!
The tooth bar is amazing. It cuts into the earth with easy. I have some brush I plan on taking out this weekend. My little BX with a Box Blade and the Piranha feels like it has been transformed into a BIG machine.

Above is an excerpt from post 12 of this thread.

An unbelievable tool that turns your BX into a 'Big Boy' excavator. The Piranha Tooth bar slices and gouges its way through the toughest terrain converting the front loader into a weapon of mass destruction. Installs in less time than it takes to BBQ a steak -- you won't believe how easily your Piranha can chew your backyard mountain into a molehill!!

This is an unsolicited review by a customer.

I have been using my BX2360 for digging with a piranha toothbar. I have a gentle sloping hill side and I'm "excavating" an area for a 30' x 32' garage. Really looking to level it mostly. The depth at the back is about 8"-10".

As to the performance of the piranha - it works great. I had started without it and the small area I had done took about 9 hours (I'm retired so the length of time doesn't really matter that much to me, not in a big hurry). The rest of the work, about 3 times as much, has taken about 8-9 hours. I'm pleased with its performance. It has taken out a few of our Tennessee stone, although not really large - after all it is a BX2360. Probably my biggest problem hasn't been the tooth bar, but traction. I have turfs and am using a rototiller for ballast, but there are still times when I find the wheels spinning.

Now, as to your job, I'd be looking at how much are you planning to take out? How long, how deep, how hard is the soil? How much time do you have? The answers to these questions will tell you whether you'll want to use your FEL or rent a larger excavator. You could also dig with your backhoe and use the FEL to move the dirt.

been working with mine in gravel and moving rocks, digging out my pool, for a month now.
so far the paint is about the worst damage.
there are a couple small knicks here and there, but it has been tortured quite a bit.
Will get pics when I go out later.
