Grease Testing

   / Grease Testing #21
. In that case, I like a good moly grease with a Timken load test of at least 80 lbs, but better would be 100 lbs. The soap base doesn't bother me much as its job is to hold the lubricant, but I try to stick with one type to avoid incompatibility.

What greases have you found that have a timken test that high???? Highest I have seen was 70????

But all that really measures is the EP property of the grease. And there are also the 4-ball scar and weld test that ALSO test the EP properties. And even comparing greases, these gan be different. One may have a higher timken test but a lower 4-ball wear and weld test:confused2:

But if you NEED an EP grease, higher #'s are better for the 4-ball weld and timken load tests.

But that isnt the only thing that matters. Those greases may NOT perform well in something that is NOT an EP application.

I had a thread on here I started about a year of so ago, and I listed a bunch of greases and gave some specs of alot of them. Mostly stuff we use at work. But unfortunatally I cannot find it. I dont know if it got deleted or what. But even going back through my profile of the threads I have started and it is nowhere:confused2:

For some reason it was removed back in May of last year.
