110's look like about the perfect size backhoe. Our big'ol 310 is just... wonky to control. It's great for heavy lifting, or digging deep, but being 2WD it gets stuck in wet grass, ha. Especially with how heavy it is too.

Awesome looking machine!

Thanks! I did consider a 310D at one time, figured I could get it and keep the 3120. But after seeing the size, whoa, they are much bigger than my 5410, which I was thinking they'd be close too. Much bigger machines all around and it too, was 2x4. They definitely have their purpose, but this 110 is way better suited for my needs.

Pretty close to 8K - same as mine. You've got spare capacity - could haul the box blade and the grapple with the bucket, too!

Hey thanks for the info!

Had a 110 for a few years, wish I never got rid of it. You are going to love it, truly an amazing machine.

Thanks Lee, I've only got 2 hours of my own on it now just dinking around in the driveway, but I love it already. Probably the nicest machine I've owned to date.

Put the new grille guard on. If I have to say so for myself, it looks much better than that other thing, which has found its way to the end of the road.

A couple of the bolts were stripped and a couple had the whole unit pop out of the plastic, and somehow I lost one of the screws:confused: but it passes my inspection. I even got some black paint and touched up the screws so they weren't as rusted out

A few weeks after using my new 110, I put a stick through that screen. Replaced it. Always planned to beef up that front grille and cover it with really HD welded wire mesh. Haven't done it, yet.

Now, I just ran another stick into that screen while burning some slash piles on some cleared ground! Dang!

Gonna refurb that grille - very soon!

It was not showing the grill damage until you posted the pictures with the guard off. I would have been compelled to replace it too.

What could this guy have done to the grapple?!?

I haven't really taken a good look at until now, it looks bad. Really bad. He really jacked this thing up one way or another. If I'm guessing, he he it something, hard the tines that usually come with the GU72 were damaged and he didn't want to pay for the new ones, so he got some steel and fabricated these spears. Even the look like the were cut with some sort of a torch, not smooth like they should be from a factory. The hydraulic cylinder is also replaced from the one that usually comes on there because the end swivels like a screw for height adjustment and the hoses are about 3' too long and dangle awkwardly with it hooked up. The top half looks to be re-welded on and the tines on it are all bent as well. As long as it works all right I guess it should due, but I don't know how long this will be able to withstand a nice sized oak tree being hauled around.

Martian,
If you have a good cutting torch, welder and grinder I suspect you can repair it easily enough to do your cleanup project. Hard for me to evaluate the grapple as a whole entity but it sure looks like I did the repairs.

I wouldn't haul it out in the sticks to work like it is, better to fix it right before you start.

I used to be pretty good at that stuff, but I haven't owned a welder in a long time. I think I may have this done professionally though and not have to worry about it when I'm out in the woods. This definitely wasn't professionally done, the welds don't look good the cut doesn't look good. I'll have to figure something out for it before it's too late, though.
