I have an Asplundh drum type Chipper from the late 70s, manufactured in Jenkinstown, PA. It has a 4 cylinder motor marked with "D6JL 6015 A"

I need to get general tune up parts like distributor, rotor, fuel filter, etc. Does anyone know where I can get info on the make and model of this motor?

Pretty sure it's a Ford 172? engine. Send Soundguy a PM asking him. He is the resident Ford expert.

In Ford part #'s the D stands for the decade of the 70's and the 6 stands for the year. So D6 = 1976

E=1980's
F=1990's

you get the picture

A motor is a device which converts electrical energy to mechanical energy.What you probably have is an internal combustion engine. The term "motor" is used mistakenly by schoolboys,non-engineers,and race announcers. That particular usage annoys the purist in me.

Indeed. Besides, if you want to split hairs, and apparently we do, all engines are motors but not all motors are engines.

"An engine or motor is a machine designed to convert energy into useful mechanical motion."

Engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ding ding ding....we have a winner:thumbsup:

The definitinon of a "motor" is simpy a device that converts energy into mechanical moting. And a gasoline or diesel engine definatally falls into that category. As does turbines, steam engines, and yes...electric motors.

Motor is just a broad term. "engine" is a little more precise but engines are motors indeed:thumbsup:

But as mentioned already, all motors arent engines.

Oh, and welcome to TBN captJCHill:D
