Not only all that but "engine mouth" just doesn't roll off the tongue like "motor mouth" does.

The key is parasitic I think. ... air, hyd are motors tooA motor is a device which converts electrical energy to mechanical energy.What you probably have is an internal combustion engine. The term "motor" is used mistakenly by schoolboys,non-engineers,and race announcers. That particular usage annoys the purist in me.

Yea,you are right for advertising slang,it works.It is still imprecise.I never flew an airplane powered by a "motor",drove a car or truck powered by one nor operated any off road equipment using a "motor"as it's prime mover.That usage is just plane wrong,undermines the credibility of the user and is akin to the use of the term "air-pocket"when speaking of in flight turbulence.l rest my case and dismount from my soap box!

It is still a mistake to call it a motor in that respect. A motors energy comes from an engine thereby giving an indirect link to motion. ... larry
