Kubota MX5100
A limb got pushed up into the underside of my Kubota MX5100 today and broke off the lower radiator hose connection port. The broken port remained dutifully clamped to the inside of the hose, but it broke away from the bottom of the radiator itself, which, to my surprise, is plastic. The top section where the upper radiator hose connects is also plastic. The attached image shows the plastic parts in yellow.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised to find plastic radiator parts on my tractor, but I can't remember noticing it before. I guess I just always remember radiators being metal top to bottom.

A new radiator costs $750+. I'm prepared to shell out the cash, but before I do, I don't suppose you guys know of any adhesive that might work to glue the port back onto the plastic radiator bottom; something that could withstand heat and pressure?

I'll try and get a picture posted in the next couple of days.

I'm not aware of sny glue that would work! I remember a vender comming by the place that I worked at that demonstrated a "plastic welder" but we didn't buy one and don't know or remenber much more about them!

Radiators have been made that way for a decade or more now. You can check with a radiator repair shop (if you can find one). Unfortunately we have become a throw away society and repairing parts is not worth our efforts so we just replace. It's possible there's an aftermarket replacement for it.

the top and bottom tanks are plastic, the core still metal I think lol, not familiar with that model tractor but with car radiators you can buy the plastic tanks seperate, you need a special crimper tool to join it back up, if the rad is new it might be worth repairing, if they sell those parts for your tractor

I noticed the plastic tank was crimped to the metal heat exchanger, just like you said, willi67. Unfortunately I doubt I'd ever be able to find just the lower tank as a standalone part. A shame, really -- the rest of the radiator is in excellent condition.

Crazyal, I guess I haven't been paying attention to radiators for awhile!

Do you have Kubota insurance? I think it should cover it
