Picked-up the only one in stock at their "TSC" Sioux Falls, SD location. I have a JD 419 FEL for my 04' JD790, the bucket inside dimension is 61" so I'll be looking at the strap hooks in the spring (have JD59 attached at the moment)since some posts suggest you really need a total of 61.5" for clearance. Having not really looked at it, perhaps I can attach something like a chain shackle with a screw pin to each outer bracket then go from there to achieve clearance enough for the hooks......thumbsup:

Today I took off the JD59 Front end snowblower (used once this season) and mounted the Rachet Rake. Since I didn't have clearance for the strap hook to fasten into the mounting bracket hole I simply installed a 1" x 2-1/2" Zinc Finish Clevis Pin to provide a mounting area for the hook (Fastenal Part No.0156795) + a washer and retaining pin. WORKS GREAT !!

Just wanted to point out, that if you are dumb, and mount the 72" RR as-is on your 60" bucket, like me, and then go hog-wild in the woods, this is the result:

Not dangerous.. yet... but clearly not sustainable. The straps should really be contained within the bucket where you aren't gonna drag them on trees and dirt.

Otherwise, this thing rocks.

I see everyone on here is following the directions and hooking the slip hook to the top of the rake. I found out that by not following the directions and hooking the slip hook to the bottom the rack, my ratchet sits up on the top of the bucket. This keeps the ratchet out of way of the damage and also gives more leverage for tightening the ratchet because it is resting on a flat surface.

Also found out that the racket rake extends the bucket just enough to make it useful for carrying long objects (mini-forks).

Not a bad call, cobra. Did the ratchet strap hooks on the long end (away from the ratchet) fit cleanly in the RR bar mounting holes down at the bucket edge?

I actually switched my setup to this way yesterday and did some more bush blasting and stump digging. Seemed to work out pretty good!

The reason I didn't originally do this was that the ratchet strap would have to be tensioned against a sharp edge on the back side of my bucket. But I threw on the extra strap protectors and figure it'll be ok.

I signed up for an account just to say thanks to everyone here. I picked up a 72" at the TSC in Camden, SC. It was the last one available there. The hardware wasn't all there and the straps were near rotted but I sent a quick email to RatchetRake and they are sending me a new set of hardware which should arrive thursday. I played around with it being carefull of the straps. So far I love it. I can't take down as large of trees with the rake on as I can with out it but I can really destroy the climbing vines and honey suckle. I've got 8+ acres of overgrown woods that I'm going to love going to town on.

Also I can't stress just how nice the ladies at Ratchet Rake are. Also she informed me that the new digging tool that is demonstrated at the end of the RR video will have more information released this week on the website. Also it should be up for sale in 2 weeks direct from their website.

Welcome! This place has a wealth of knowledge base, mostly in the form of direct personal experience. I have learned a lot in the last two months since I joined myself.

Why not? It basically adds a heavy duty stiffening reinforcement to your bucket edge. Curious what aspect of your tree felling technique would be hampered by having the RR in place? Personally I would probably be less confident blasting against trees if I didn't have my RR on.

Nice. Same for me, my RR is going to be WELL used by the time I am done with my initial land clearing.

Cool! I have checked back on their website for some more info on that thing a couple times now. It looks pretty handy, indeed. For $200 it would be awesome... for $400.. I'd probably not bother.

Thanks for the welcome..

As for taking down trees the cutting edge of the bucket really comes in handy for my little tractor. I like to dig down with the bucket to cut the root system on my side of the tree before trying to push it over. I can easily push over 6" hardwoods when I cut one side of the roots. With the rake on I lose that advantage.

The rake just can't cut the roots. However it does great at raking up the cut roots that I left behind and it also helps moving the downed trees into a stack.

I got the replacement hardware from RatchetRake today and went to town on the underbrush. Had a lot of fun and got a little bit of work done too..
