Schaeffer Diesel Treat 2000. A gallon treats 2000 gallons and I can get it for $40 per gallon. And its proven to work. Been running it for two years with no problems.

+1 on this! Have used this product for 10+ years at truck fueling terminals from Laredo to Detroit with absolutely no problems. Go through 15-20 pallets per year.

Since this thread got revived after being dead for nearly 6 years, I'll ask a question. How in the world does algae grow in diesel fuel? I'm not denying that it does, but isn't that an awful hostile environment for algae? Does it grow in the fuel or just on the walls of the tank, above the fuel? Very interesting.

I think once the fuel seperates and water is in the fuel it grows in the water in the fuel. so the water on the bottom of the tank grow algea, thats where fuel is drawn from so not only do you get water but your filter plug up with the crud that was growing in there.

Sulfur is a natural biocide. Since ULSD came about, algae growth occurs even more so than before.

Funny, my oil testing house said skip the PS. Based on the UOA, he was right.

I've been using PS white since about 1988. I hadn't been tracking the price on it but I don't remember it costing $17 for the 80 oz size. That works out to about 7 cents per gallon of fuel for treatment.

Since I got my 2 recent diesel additions I've become more concerned about the lubricity of my injectors, and finally made the step up to Opti-lube XPD and bought a 5 gallon pail. That works out to 10 cents per gallon of fuel treated.
