Hi all

I'm trying to decide whether 2 rear remotes will be sufficient for my current and future needs or should I get an extra one making it 3 rear remotes.
What implements would require 3 rear remotes?

Also need to decide if I will need 1000 rpm PTO.
What implements would use the faster 1000 rpm?

I gather the three point lift uses already connected hoses so does not use the rear remotes and these are for any additional hydraulics that the implements require. So a brush hog uses no rear remotes, a log splitter would use one, a hay rake would use one, and a backhoe would use quite a few.

If you go with T-N-T, (top and tilt) that's a hydraulic top link and side link to a lower 3pt hitch arm, there's two remotes used. I would get Three.

Back Blades can have three, tilt, offset and angle.

I think the 1,000rpm PTO is used when greater HP has to be transmitted.

What do you mean by TPL?

Pull type and semi mounted brush hogs CAN use one for a hydraulic cylinder for height adjustment. There are semi mounted brush hogs with hydraulic offset. Batwing mowers need at least Two, one for height and one for folding the wings .

Backhoes normally require PB (power beyond) since they have so many functions.

What are back blades?

Ah so its not for something that has to spin very fast but for more power. Thats means with me getting a 60 HP machine, mainly for brush hogging and lifting things I wont need 1000 rpm.

Three point lift. I have modified my post avoid the TLA, three letter acronym :)

Ah had not heard of PB before, Googling it shows lots of stuff to read there on the tractor forums and on here. Have learnt another term now.

How big is your tractor? Lots of larger tractor implements can use either 540 or 1000 PTO just have to make sure the right configuration is on the implement at time of purchase. Some larger tractors come with both 540 and 1000 stubs already installed.

Most smaller tractors will use 540 hookup but may have an option to change gearing to run a 1000 PTO with addition of a coupler. Majority of the implements I have seen for the smaller tractors use 540.

The main difference is in the gearbox on the implements.

Hi smallplot

Looking at getting a 60 HP (case maxxfarm 60 or Kioti RX6060) next week.
They come with 2 remotes as standard, 3rd is an option on the Kioti.
Maxx has 1000 rpm, Kioti does not, hence the question as to what implements might use 1000 and what might use more then 2 remotes.

Will just be doig brush hogging lifting, hay bale moving. Prob not any hay making and no ploughing or dirt engaging stuff. Backhoe prob not as none of those tractors have a backhoe attachment.

Clarification please. Do you mean two rear hydraulic connections period? that constitutes one set (1 supply/1 return). Or two sets of remotes (total of 4 connections)?

Mike, so you will do no grading of any dirt roads or drives at your place? Sounds like you will not be getting a box blade or rear blade of any kind. These are implements along with Top and Tilt cylinders that could use the rear remotes. I would get the 3rd remote just to have, but that is just me. I currently have 3 rear remotes on both of my Mahindra tractors and will be adding a 4th to each one of them as time provides.

Hi

Clarification; I mean sets of rear remotes.

Grading of driveways, forgot that, thanks for the reminder. I'd prob be getting a box blade sometime later.

So that will take two sets, one for tilting the blade up and down and the other set you call a top. Is that for raising and lowering or what? I haven't used a box blade before.

The side link will tilt the box from side to side. The top link tilts the box from front to back and that adjusts how much either the front or rear blade will dig in or skip over the ground and just smooth it out using the back side of the cutting edge. If you were to get a box blade with hydraulic actuated rippers, then that would be a reason to have that 3rd rear remote. I know that right now you think that "what do I need all that stuff for" trust me when I say that some where down the road you will want at least some of "the stuff". ;)

The top is meaning a hydraulic top link for the three point hitch. With a box blade it allows you to change the 'roll' of the blade some to get a better bite or less of a bite.
