Trailer big enough for 50HP tractor? Quick sanity check

I should have included a picture of the trailer w/ my B7610 on it.

As you can see the B7610 leaves it a lot of room.

Oh man, we'd put 120 bales of square hay on that nice trailer and pull it all over..... probably behind a 1/2 ton pickup.

That is a good trailer...... and your 1 ton pickup will let you get away with being a little forward if you need to be.....

I know what you mean. Some of these guys would have a stroke if they knew the gross weight that I routinely load my 27' dual tandem gooseneck to and pull it behind a 3/4 ton pickup.

I remember when I was a kid the only pickup we had that would pull the gooseneck was a '74 Dodge Power Wagon....... 4 wheel drum brakes and no connector for the trailer brakes. Thing would pull like a modern diesel but braking was poor and largely dependent on how much mud was caked in the drums.....

Point is safe hauling is more about proper loading and driving than spending thousand on the baddest overkill trailer on the net.......... just don't be like the idiot tailgating and trying to pass on a hill with his 34' fifth wheel and you'll probably be fine.

Hi all,

Interesting thread as I am trying to figure out if I can fit a TN70D with a 32LA FEL and a Rhino TS12 flex wing mower on my existing trailer. The trailer is a 22' utility goose-neck with a 14K gross wt. A notation on the trailer says not to load more than 10K on the trailer.

I think the tractor/FEL/mower combination will weigh about 9800lbs (operating weight). The overall length of the tractor/mower combination is 21'6-1/4" from the front of the tractor to the rear axle on the mower (I will run the loader bucket up over the trailer neck).

If I add a 2' dovetail to the rear of the trailer, I think I can load and unload the tractor/mower without ramps. The older I get the less I like ramps!

My truck is a '06 Dodge Ram D3500 which I regularly use to pull this trailer at gross weight up and down the interstates (non commercial). I do chain it down according to DOT specs just for safety's sake.

Hope this is relevant, not trying to hijack this thread

So I probably shouldn't tell people that I have a 16' triaxle beaver tail that I load my Case 580k on to haul it around.

.......I'd put that 50HP tractor (with no implements) behind my 1/2 ton on a no brake 16 foot utility trailer and haul it anywhere I wanted to go on a flat, two lane highway.

I'm sure you would.

And I don't mean that as a compliment...

Definitely NOT hijacking, very pertinent.

Just because it fits, doesn't mean it's a good idea. ;)

Personally, I don't want the FEL sticking over the tongue. Makes the load unstable, and you can seriously mess up your tailgate!

Personally I feel it's about the same as mounting a toolbox over the tongue. Just make sure the load is properly balanced and the tongue weight is right for the load. And have a WD hitch.

I like ramps, they make my life easier.

Best way to go bankrupt is to waste all your money on trucks, trailers, and other toys you really don't need..... esp on a real life farm.

I like ramps, they make my life easier.

Yesterday I was setting the ramps to unload my skid loader from my 6X10 10K dump trailer when I dropped one of the ramps on my left big toe!! I hate ramps.

I tried loading my TN70D with a 7' 3pt shredder on the goose neck trailer a few times and was semi sucessful. The trailer deck was about 24" above grade so I had to put the tractor in 4WD to climb it. That was okay except I knocked a couple of tire lugs loose on the back tires in the process. I was thinking of installing a 3' dovetail where the end of the dovetail was 12" above grade. That puts the dovetail angle at about 30 degrees. I should be able to climb that without any trouble. On the 12' batwing shredder, the back shredder tires would ride on the dovetail. If I have trouble with them dragging, I could hinge them at the back of the trailer and raise and lower them manually as needed. I would need to come up with a lever and latch system (pat. pending) to make this work.

Oh please. "Real life farm"? Surely you jest!

It's plain to see you are just an accident waiting to happen, the only question is when and it's a true wonder you haven't caused many already. Wait until you do and get sued for everything you own...then you can talk about bankruptcy.
