That's a good price for the Washington DC area.

Remember we up here in my neck of the suburbs are "suffering" an unemployment rate of about 4.5%, so people have money.

Hello

I personally had a 94 1/2 f350 power stroke. It was right when they went to a direct injectEd diesel, I sold it at 5oo,ooo miles and all I ever done was put a turbo on it at 270,000, a planetary in the transfer case because the oil leaked out. Lol the front brakes a few times and that's it. We also have 3 others that are 99s to 03s. The least amount of miles we have are 130,000. The only thing I like better about the 94 was the turning radius, the old style Dana 60 in the front that they kept until I believe it was 97 turned a lot sharper. You can shave the knuckles on the newer stlyle to be able to turn sharper. You cannot go wrong in my opinion with a 7.3, there a tried and true good motor. :) Nic

David, one thing about this one. You could get something like that and just keep your F-150 for commuting. Use the dually for the "heavy" work. And, IMHO, the '95-97 Super Duty trucks were some of the best.

There was a wise man that already suggested something like that. (ME) :D

David,
If the body and interior of that truck is in decent shape, you can't go wrong for 4k. There are still plenty of those of the road today pulling 5th wheels up and down the highways. That ought tell you something about the quality and reliability. Though they do not have the power of todays' powerstrokes, the '95s and '96s were the game changers. This was the powerstroke that sent chevy and dodge back to the drawing board. Unless you plan on pushing snow or running through some muddy hayfields, you will be alright with the 4x2. Get some michelin MXs and just drop two stumps in the rear of the bed during the winter.

BF62,

Problem is that the F-150 is a terrible commuter car, and it is not so great as a grocery getter for the wife (she prefers I leave her Flex at home for her).

Right now I'm thinking my whole plan is a mess regardless...

My commute is basically at least 160 miles each day I have to "go to the customer".

It is decent weather now and I plan to ride my Harley most days (but my carpal tunnel might have other ideas, it is giving me fits on my left hand now).

The truth is it would be ridiculous to drive a F-350 4x4 to work everyday, and worse to leave it for the wife. Plus I really do not NEED it yet, I just WANT it so I can get a gooseneck trailer, and then get more toys etc. I would then need to go find a commuter car for the rainy days when I can't ride my Harley...

Fact is I am not done with the chores I have I'm foolish to try to add to the list with haying or bush-hogging, or anything until I'm done with what I need to do now. I suspect if I NEEDED to get my tractor or my horses somewhere tomorrow I could borrow a truck & trailer.

I need to settle down and get some stuff done first, and quit trying to catch up to all of you guys way ahead of me on this journey.

Basically, do my chores first, then play later.

But your advice is solid and I am not discarding it. I appreciate all the great advice I get here on TBN, especially from those whom I consider my friends and advisors. Like you, Hawk, EastTX, here on this thread (and many others on other threads).

Thanks & Be well,
David
