Looking for USED F-350 - Which year/engine/model is best?

Maybe he's thinking about superior forged vs. inferior powdered metal connecting rods. I believe the changeover date is generally regarded to be mid-year '01, though that date is muddied with trucks with both types of rods throughout a two-year or so range centered around said date.

From those four pics, it LOOKS very good. Need to check all the usual: tires, windsheild, look for leaks, check for body repairs, salt corrosion, etc.
He's asking retail. I looked it up on NADA: NADAguides.com
It's not a hot deal, but he can probably get that much. These trucks are in high demand. Perhaps you can get him to come down a little if you go see him in person.
Definitely worth a look-see. It would be great if you could take someone with you that knows these trucks.

It is a bit more than I was hoping to spend, but it is much lower miles than I was hoping to get.

I will need to sell my 2001 F-150 ASAP...

I wish I had one of you guys closer to go look at it with me...

Moss I'm with you been a ford guy since day one. have a 99 crew cab long bed SWR 7.3 with 125k and have not had any issues with it other than the norm. I just replaced the original batteries last fall. I intend on keeping this truck until the wheels fall off or he(( freezes over, whichever comes first.

For $13,500, it's a deal. That price is a little high but that's a good setup with a good engine.

Check the fenders and rockers for rust along with the fuel tank and oil pan.

(Holy Cow, is that burn pile in your avatar REAL!!!!) My plan is this next truck I buy will be the same, drive it until the wheels fall off.

I'm a hard core Ford guy. I was always a Ford guy, I owned a Honda, a Toyota, over the years, but after the bailout that Ford rejected, that was it. I will only own Ford products, and I have Ford Stock in my IRA.
