How hard is it to replace the seals in the cylinder ? I had it repaired by dealer two years ago and it is leaking again. Is there a dealer who sales the kit ? Can a new or rebuilt cylinder be purchased ?

What are you doing that you have to reseal the cylinder after two years of use?

It's generally not a hard thing to do. Removing the rod gland nut sometimes takes a special pin wrench but once that's off it comes a part really easily. Make sure you drain it first or it will get messy. Get your parts off the dealer or go to a hydraulic specialty shop and they should be able to match the piston and gland seals. They might even have better than OEM parts.

I use it for lite duty. It leaks more when fully extended. Could that be a bent rod ?

Could be. Something is tearing up your seals.

Mine on my LA463 loader is 6 years old. Still not even so much as a drip.

Is this thing stored outside??? Got any rust or pitting on the rods themselves?

Cylinder looks new , just leaks.

My LA853 curl is also leaking (internally). Bucket will droop from level to fully down in maybe 1-2 minutes. Just turned over 400 hours. It may be the valve, I haven't yet tried swapping the hoses. I have abused it some, using the tooth bar as a rock rake and back-dragging a lot. I figured that a decent hydraulic shop for seal replacement was the simplest option.

One of the dirty little secrets of cyl repairs lasting is "Fit & Finish"

If it has a poor fit (sloppy gland) or poor finish (pitted or scored chrome) then the seals will not last

Just throwing in a seal kit IMHO is not rebuilding a cyl.....carefull polishing, measuring, and inspection uncovers defects no one else will see.....just a word to the wise....:cool:
